Porsche to F-Type?
I currently drive a Porsche 911 (996) Cabriolet and have decided to move to either a 2011+ Porsche 997.2 Cab or the F-Type Vert. From my search here there are a few threads about 911's vs F-types, but I was hoping to get real life opinions from those that have made the switch.
I have enjoyed my 996 and the upgrade to the 997 is a natural, but I am intrigued by the looks and sound of the F-type. Thanks in advance for your input!

I went from a hopped up C6 to the F type vert. I have never looked back. Love it. Much smoother and classy IMO. Now the C7 could be a different story. A much closer comparison.
Not exactly what your looking for in an opinion but just to say the F type is just great. AND you don’t see them ALL over as you do the Porsche's and the Vette’s.

Kind of a similar story here - I previously had a Gen II Viper and a Gen III Viper - both modded. I had an order for a Gen V Viper that I canceled after getting sick of the wait and the nonsense from SRT. At that point, I was sure I wanted a new 911 after that so I went to the Porsche/Jag dealer here in town and drove a 911 4S. The car seemed like a well-engineered machine (I wasn't impressed with the interior at all, however) but it had no punch, no emotion, no sound compared to the Vipers I owned; I just wasn't sold and it really wasn't the car for me. I researched more and read about the Jag F-Type V8S. Went back to the same dealer and drove the V8S - this car was a lot more fun to drive, had a lot more bottom end and a lot more sound to it than the 911. I ended up ordering a white V8S with the black pack and black rims - love it. It'll spank the 911 I test drove and will beat both Vipers I owned as well. Not so sure it'd fare well against a Gen IV or Gen V Viper but on the other hand, it looks great, the quality has been great (so far - knock on wood) and I didn't have to deal with the nonsense at the Dodge dealers. Never thought I'd own a Jag (always saw them as old-guy cars - sorry, Jag loyalists) but the car is great fun and gets just as many compliments as my Vipers did. Now, if they could just get some younger, more popular guys to play the villains in those F-Type ads...

I was thinking of getting a Carrera S (991) but luckily went to have a fuse replaced on my Range Rover. While they were doing that I hopped into a V8 S.
The Carrera S (991) is a fantastic car. However, it did not make me feel like a schoolboy. The Jaguar did and I saved about C$20K.
Driving the Jaguar F-Type V8 S is an occasion.
