Pre-purchase inspection
I don't think it really matters if it's a dealer or an independent (as long as they specialize in Jaguar, of course) - call a few that seem reputable and ask them about it, and you should be able to get a feel for the place.

Agree with Lani. If you don’t have or know a local shop that you trust then take it to the dealer. The important thing is getting one done. I live in North Atlanta and have a guy that I trust because he took good care of my XKR. I got a 14 V8S vert coming in 2 weeks. I’m literally driving it from the car lot to his shop to do a comprehensive PPI.

If you can find a real new Jag specialist...great. But I'd offer a dealership will have a deeper understanding of issues and relative complexity of the ID'd problem; especially for newer models -- I'm not on the "***********" bandwagon, my experiences have been generally positive. I had two PPI's (an Audi TT and BMW M3) done at well regarded German car specialist shops and they missed a few things on both cars that were specific to those models. I'm not sure a dealer would have caught the issues, but....
