Shopping used F-Types and trying to determine which model years would be best to look at. If there haven’t been any mechanical updates from 17+ Then I don’t see much value in shopping any newer than 17. The V6-S and V8’s have the same rear diff it looks like...issues with the breather valve clogging then pressure causing leaks from the pinion. Anyone know if the base V6 has the same diff? Or any diff issues? 17’ was also the first year for the 5yr warranty (another reason why I’m thinkin this is the best MY to shop). I’m not sure what other updates may have been done for MY17 outside of the infotainment. Any input would be helpful!

Base does not have LSD. S has mechanical and R has electronic.

thanks for clarifying. Are they all plagued with the pinion leak?

I'll let others comment on issues other than the infotainment system, but as for the one in my MY2018, which has been updated a couple times: it sucks to be bluntly honest and crude. Love the car, but the infotainment system would NOT be one of the reasons for me acquiring an F-Type. BTW the one in a 2020 F-Pace I had as a loaner last week was no better.

base has open diff. The S mechanical diff which works pretty well. my 16 CPO has 7 years of warranty. 5 of factory and 2 and CPO as I'm told. the infotainment sucks in all pre big screen ones, and even then the newer infotaiment is only good because it has carplay.

Went with ‘15 for the RWD. Don’t care about the infotainment as I never use it. Don’t even listen to music. All I need is there exhaust note

16 was when the 5 year warranty started. That that it matters much now, as 5 years is rapidly coming to an end.
