Default Problems programming garage door opener

Anyone able to successfully program the garage door remotes? I followed the steps in the manual, got the blinking lights like it says I should, but the buttons don't work. Any advice?

Synching with the handheld remote does not seem to work. Park the car in the garage and use the synch button on the door drive mechanism. You may need 2 people to coordinate the timing. ( one in the car and one on a ladder)

I also programmed my parents garage door onto the second button. I had forgot what the process was, but simply help the button til it started flashing while holding the garage door button too. Worked on the first try.

Depends on your garage door opener...I know that at least for my building (underground shared parking) you can't do it with just the remote because it's some encrypted signal. For that model you have to follow some complicated steps at the master unit to setup a new remote.

I initially had problems too, so I had to do this with my remote. It basically requires setting up with the remote and again with using the learn mode button on the garage door opener motor itself. There are instructions in the manual for it.

After setting up with both, mine works flawlessly now.

I initially had an issue, but went to HomeLink and followed the directions and got it working. I had to clear the buttons first and then it would allow me to program. It was easy. I had to use the Sync button on the garage door opener method. Did it by myself. Just need to be quick to get back to the car.

Although I got it working just fine, I actually had to go buy a door opener remote. One was lost years ago, and the other one was destroyed when my wife totalled the SUV. I've had my other vehicles for years and never had to mess with a remote other than the homelink button on my mirror for many years. I just couldn't get my Z close enough to the F-Types mirror to program it...

Assuming you have rolling code, make sure you go through the whole procedure - it has to fail the first part to go on to rolling code and complete the programming successfully. I tried to skip the first part, and that doesn't work.

I tried that. Still can't get it to work.

Instructions say you might have to press the button another couple of times. Which button? the one on the handheld or the one on the mirror?

It didn't work for me until I cleared the memory. Mine is rolling code so I needed to hit the button on the opener and then on the car. Luckily for me my garage is fairly low so I reached up for the opener and then leaned over top down and hit the mirror button. Convertible life!

You didn't use the handheld at all, right? I'll try one more time.

Be aware that if you clear the memory on the garage door opener you will need to re-sync all cars/remotes to the unit.

I have a rolling code unit, and I simply pressed the program button on the door opener (which stayed syncing log enough for me to get in the car) and the button on the mirror. However, I had to do it twice to learn the rolling code pattern. This was mentioned in the manual for my door opener.

At no point was the remote involved in the code learning procedure for my unit (Genie Pro Max).

The one on the mirror. You push it pause push it and pause. This is after you already did the pairing using the remote and the mirror.

If your garage door opener is not near your car, it helps to have a second person to press the button on the garage door opener to put it into learn mode. I just parked under the thing with a ladder next to the car so it was easy to do by myself. The learn mode stays active for like 30 seconds, which should normally be plenty of time to go through the sequence and get the car to learn the codes.

Finally got it working based on Merlin's guidance. On the Kenmore driver you have to pair with a handheld remote first, and then push the program button on the driver and pair with that. Second button push actually activated the opener.

Have new liftmaster locking garage door openers (really cool, once those doors are closed they are really not moving). None of my Homelink controls were working (these use the newer more secure technology-read not compatible with Homelink) had to get a liftmaster bridge then set the Homelink to the different remote that came with that and presto everything worked. Same issue with the electric gates but once I installed the extender everything worked fine. The clue is that the Homelink wouldn't match frequencies with the remote. Had to do the same thing with my new power gate. Now all my homelink stuff is working and set up was really easy.

I love this design as it both frees up my ceiling and has an electronic bolt lock that secures the door. https://www.liftmaster.com/For-Busin...uty/model-3900

Here is the bridge(in case you run into a similar problem):
