Default Proving impossible

.... to find an F with the rough spec I want (used)

According to the main site there 38 V6 (S) available in the whole of the UK

to go new is going to add £15,000 onto my budget - and unless the successful dealer can work miracles....

Well, I'm a long way away from the UK, but my local dealer had a leftover 2015 V6S marked down $20k (on a 108k MSRP)....it sounded like a heck of a deal for a brand new F type but ultimately the 2014 V8S with 10,000 kms and every option for basically the same price was too much car to resist.

I wish

dealers here just seem to expect top whack and not budge an inch ......... ie if you're paying this amount for a car, you can obviously afford it

....missing the roof is a bonus, but I can see how the steering wheel thing would be a problem for you! haha!

True; I live in what's known as the "Sunny Okanagan" and, in fact, I live only an hour or so away from the Okanagan Desert;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okanagan_Desert

So the only cars I considered had two absolutes; the top had to come down and it had to be an auto so my wife could drive it. Other considerations were the BMW Z4 and M4 Cabriolet, another SLK MB and a Boxster S.

I have some relatives in Wales but haven't visited yet; seems when we go that way we end up in the French Riviera or Italy... but, one day.

Good luck in your search and sorry for the ramble!

Cheers,
Dave

Yep. There really don't seem to be many about - I've seen just one other coupe on the road in 18 months of ownership.

Have you considered a Lease? I hadn't, until I realised it was the difference between driving an F Type rather than a Golf R.

yep - looked at lease as well - at £600-£700 / month for a base and obviously nothing at the end of 3 years plus the down payment of nearly £2000

nah !!!

If they offered you that deal, you were a complete mutt not to take it.

Seriously.

except - by the time I'd specced the one I want, it comes out at £1200 / month + vat

so when I could buy new for about £700/£800 / month and the car would be mine at the end of the contract period - why would I lease

these figures are over budget anyway sadly

Just had a phone call from a dealer (admin staff by the sound of it) that I had called in at back in October (the salesman rang me last week)

went along the lines of

admin - "are you still in the market for a Jaguar?"
me - "yes"
admin - "was it the F-Type?"
me "yes"
admin - "are you looking for a diesel or petrol?"
Me - ".......seriously !!!!!!"

I'm sorry for what you're having to deal with and I don't mean to seem insensitive but this last post is..........absolutely hysterical

I was so lucky with mine, I was still 3 months before I was free of my previous lease and wasn't ready to buy but I saw exactly the car I wanted
12 months old, ex JLR Australia company car for a reasonable price so o went and bought it on the spot. Cost me three months of double lease payments but it was worth it.

Strange. It may have been due to there being so little time left on your original lease, but if the salesman is competent he should be looking to get you into a new lease with about 12 months to go.

He gets incentivised to sign you up, and the finance company are happy to take your money for another few years.

No, I chose to, because I wanted to pay it out and keep the other car.

Is that a 2013 (UK)? Love the lack of side skirts, and the black rear valance. Looks great with white. I also see it's a V6 - those of us with V6s love them.
