Question on the active exhaust button

Just bought a 2016 F-Type base coupe. It has the active exhaust button and the performance button as well. When depressing the active button it only flashes a few times and goes out. When in the performance mode, does the same thing. There is no change in the exhaust sound? One reason we looked at these was for the raspy exhaust sound. Any thoughts on a cause? I call a Jaguar dealer and asked if a previous flash could have disabled, and they said no possible way a flash would do that??? Looking forward to your thoughts and suggestion.

I took a look at the Monroney sticker for my '16 base, and it does not list Active Exhaust as an installed option, but it is definitely working - both by itself and in dynamic mode. Mine is a 6 speed though, and I vaguely remember a comment somewhere that all manuals came with active exhaust as standard.

This is accurate for my 2014 V8S. No button, no ability to control my exhaust until I added a switchable fuse kit with its own remote.

I agree that if you have the button, your car should have the feature. Some of us with active exhaust but without switchable active exhaust remove a fuse to open the valves all the time, wonder if your fuse is removed or blown. Fuse F43 for older cars, F15 for newer ones. I’d check that. For my MY (14), I believe the manual also lists another fuse for active exhaust. I’d check your manual, then check the fuses. Typically, though, the valves are completely open (I.e. loud) without the fuses.
Unless the previous owner put a different exhaust on that isn’t valved…

It's very possible that some module needs to be updated. On my 2017 base Premium, I found no documentation about the lighting in the door and grab handle, but the LED strips were there. The JLR tech found the module and updated it and I now have the lighting in the door and handle. I also have a switch for the spoiler. The switch did not raise or lower the spoiler for cleaning, but it did go up at 70 mph like it should. Turns out it was a bad switch and was replaced.

I had the same problem with my 2016 S, when I first bought it, the button would blink and then go dark. Turns out dealer found a frayed wire in the rear that caused a dead battery. Wire fixed and new battery installed. No problem since.

Theres a back story to this but I figured to keep it short and to the point

Must the valve fail completely (either stuck open or closed) or can they be "sticky" and intermittently fail? I swear sometimes mine will start up with valves completely open (which is actually louder than the "Dynamic" mode), but then will reset itself while driving. It doesn't happen often, which is why I wonder if a valve is slowly going out (or a sensor that detects its position?).

I have squeaky valves, and I could hear that one of them was stuck open at some point last year. Didn't stay that way. Since I don't have switchable active exhaust, I added a wireless relay to defeat fuse F43, so I can open them 100% if I want.
Product Overview | cccharger (He has an F-type version not listed.)
Also, for those interested, here's the way Active Exhaust originally worked. Around 2016, they replaced the electric vacuum pump (which is annoyingly buzzy) with a vacuum line running back from the engine.
