I've never had it before in any of my cars. I don't do any audio on my phone except for audio books. The reason I'm considering adding the adaptor to my Bosch 2016 R is to use Google maps. I listen exclusively to XM Radio in the car.

Can I listen to XM while using Google Maps?

 

I have used Google maps and/or Waze via CarPlay, and can use XM without issue. However, for music I much prefer building a USB with exactly MY favorite music vs XM's. In fact, I've dropped the subscription.

 

Yes. I listen to XM about 80% of the time, audiobooks the other 20%. Works great with the Carplay adapter in my 2017. The adapter keeps all stock functionality (except stock navigation). XM, settings menus, reverse camera, parking sensors all work as normal, including pop-up screens when appropriate. A really nice upgrade for our older F-Types.

The way audio works is all your audio sources will remain (XM, FM, AM, etc.). The Carplay adapter is accessed by setting the audio mode to "aux". You switch back to "XM" or whatever source you want whenever you want.

 

You can use the XM APP on your phone.
