Default R Coupe holds it own

Hey Guys,

Just another random youtube video I found with the R coupe running against some rather quick competition. This video shows that for the money, the R coupe is outstanding! Enjoy!

Interesting, conditions must have not been ideal. Isn't the 458 easily in the 11s?

The video shows none of the cars having traction issues. Each car took off without a hint of wheelspin so I would say that conditions were fine. BTW, the R coupe is also a mid to high 11 second car so everything in the video looks to be in order.

Also to be fair I trust Jaguar numbers more so than I trust Fezza numbers. They are great cars but as has been reported the car you get vs the cars journos get can vary vastly.

Jaguar's numbers are always on the conservative side. No video I've seen of the R coupe and there are quite a few show it running anything north of 3.8s 0-60 and quarter times are typically in the 11.6-11.8 range. In the video, it was only down 23hp to the Benz and 20hp to the 458 so the results are not far fetched.

Thanks for sharing. Good to know that Jaguar rates their motors conservatively.

Assuming similar RWD traction and reaction times, the relative length of victory appears right in the ballpark. If the 'R' coupe is 11.6-11.8 bone stock, as it appears to be, I would expect a stock 458 to beat by 3-5 lengths in the 1/4 by curb weight alone.

(Interesting that the R's "timeslips" appear identical. Not sure what's up with that.)

Yeah I noticed that too. Here is a video of the XKR-S running the 458 and it lost by about 10 carlengths so it would not be unreasonable for an R coupe to be at least 5 car lengths closer. Just speculating of course.
