Default Rear screen defroster on startup

When I start-up the car, rear screen defroster switches on randomly, like the photo uploaded.

Is there a reason for this? and can I prevent it from automatically switching on?

If there is snow or rain, then I would understand.
But it just comes on for no particular reason that I can see. (just low temperature?)
And it's bothersome to have to switch it off everytime I see it lit by itself.

Thanks!

I'm a noob at this, but when I was messing with mine yesterdayi though that I saw a setting in the climate section that set the rear to auto.

The front and rear wind screen defrosters come on with low temperature automagically when I start the car. One day I noticed that just the rear was on, so they are independent of each other.

There is a setting in the system for turning automatic defrosting function on and off.

But regardless of the setting, the rear defroster comes on whenever it feels like to do so.

In my XF mine comes on automatically when it senses a low temperature.

Is that function any useful?

Can you disable it from switching on automatically?

Yes, I believe if you go into climate settings you can turn that function off (please see the pic on a previous post in this thread). I find it useful though. The majority of the time that it comes on it needs to be on.
