Default Record F-TYPE sales for May 2014

Jaguar released its US sales figures for May 2014.
  • 431 F-TYPEs sold, a new record for Jaguar.
  • May represented the first month of coupe sales for the US. 236 coupes sold, 195 verts.
  • This suggests, as some forum users have speculated, that there was indeed some pent up demand for the coupe which suppressed the April numbers.
  • Jaguar North America had its best sales month since 2007.

Press release is here

Still very happy that I was one of the 185 convertibles sold in December

Will certainly be interesting to see how the coupe/convertible split shapes up over time - supply for the coupe will have been limited in May being the first month on sale.

These are good numbers!

Agreed.... Do you recall the coupe/convertible split for the 911?

I never saw Porsche break out the numbers in their sales report unfortunately. Porsche does sell a ton of the 911 though... They sold 864 in the US in May, and over 4300 year to date......

I haven't seen a US split either.
For Germany, the jaguar XK convertibles account for 2/3rds of sales (ie 1/3rd coupe). In Germany for the Porsche Cayman and Boxster it's closer to 50/50.

No clue for US.... Will be interesting to see what happens with the F-Type.

Not that it matters, but the old E-type spiritual predecessor for the F-type was best known for its convertible roadster i think, which Enzo Ferrari called "the most beautiful car ever made", although ian callum has said he cares more about the f-coupe than the vert.

I was one of the May Verts and will be a June Coupe!

Bought the vert until my coupe comes in.

I guess that's one way for Jag to goose the sales numbers!

Are you going to take a bath on the vert when you pick up your coupe?

*** Do we know if these numbers represent actual vehicle deliveries, or does this also include special orders for later delivery.

Orders don't count as sales. Manufacturers all report the same way - cars sold and registered.

No bath on the Vert. They are going to give me what I paid on the trade.

That's an awfully good deal. You basically have a free loaner car.
