Default Reliability of F type

Considering purchasing a used 2015 F type S coupe. It has 9 more months left on the warranty, for the F type owners out there, how reliable has this car been? am I rolling the dice having this vehicle out of warranty? would you guys recommend I only look certified instead?

My car is over 4 years old and not a single problem.

Okay, in full disclosure, I only have ~7000 miles on my mine thus far so I am being sort of a smarta$$. I can answer your question in another 4 years or so.

Like any vehicle, and like on any forum, there are always reports of issues and some folks had real lemons. But I have to say that, for the most part, the F-Type's reliability is about average for a higher-end sports car. I scoured this forum and the internet for reviews and the fact that there really was not a preponderance of negative feedback really helped steer me towards the F-Type.

Even so, I purchased a 4-year/75K mile warranty for "just in case" coverage.

If you are buying a 4 year old car because it's the only way you can afford it, then you are rolling the dice. If you are doing it to save money, you'll still come out ahead of buying new, even if you have to put in a new engine. Take a look at buying an extended warranty on the car you obviously prefer.

We have seen few service issues on the F-Type, usually just normal service, some recall or bulletin work. One in now that had the wiring eaten by mice. They do chew through tires so be aware of that, between the suspension setup and the soft rubber.

My advice would be to only buy one at a Jaguar dealer and get one with CPO warranty for peace of mind. An aftermarket service contract can be good IF it's from a reputable insurer, get references unless you have personal experience. I have given this advice over the years for ANY luxury or performance brand. JMO.

Good luck with your search, you'll love the car! Lots of support on this forum, lots of contributors with TONS of knowledge and willing to share.
