Default Replace tires after 6k miles?

Hi guys,

I have had my car for about a year now and it has about 6700 miles on it.

It looks like I will need to replace my tires. I drive a 16 F Type V6s. It has never been tracked, but I do drive it in dynamic mode.

When did everyone else have to change out there tires?

Is there a standard? I would have thought at lease 10k-12k miles.

6700 miles for rear tires would not be too shocking. That would be a bit low for the front tires in my opinion. The range that one person can get out of tires will vary wildly though. Someone here with a V8S could get 15,000 miles out of the same set that I might only get 5,000 miles out of. Restraint with the right foot will be the biggest factor. Another factor is the treadware rating of the tires you have that need replacing. Are these the OEM tires?

Got around 16K out of my P-Zeros, before I switched to MPSS. The rears were getting low on tread, though the fronts still had a fair amount left. Did one track day on the P-Zeros, but in general, I don't drive like a hooligan (much).

When the dealer reported my tread depth, they measured to the wear strips, while I measured the full depth. Not sure which is the right way, but they implied I had a lot less tread than I actually had. I've since bought a cheap tread gauge.

Yes these are OEM Tires. Will dynamic mode make much of a difference?

Measuring the full depth is the correct methodology. The wear strips indicate that you're down to 1/16" and the tire needs to be replaced by law (I usually wait for cord to appear )

I got about 15k out of the OEM. The front had an alignment problem so they were really bad. The rears still had some life left on them. But I drive like an old lady (sometimes from Pasadena).

Just replaced the OEM Pilots on my '16 at 8.5K miles with MPSS. Not because I had to but because I wanted to....

I know I could have waited for the new PSS4 but got a got deal on the PSS so why the heck not ;-)

Dynamic mode will only make a difference if you are driving the car hard in that mode. Sometimes, I drive like a grandma in dynamic mode, so that really isn't a determining factor for tire wear.

13,000 miles on a V6, about 1/2 on long highway runs. OEM Continentals are close to the wear bar in the rear, but still good in the front. Heavy right foot. Michelins next.

I have 8500 miles on the OEM tires on my V6S Coupe and they still look new. Alot of those miles are long highway driving but I do have alot of spirited driven Dynamic mode miles as well.

Dynamic mode and spirited driving on the highway wont cause that much wear.

its the accelerating from stand still, hard cornering and tire chirping that will

I'm kind of in hen same boat, except I need to replace them, want to wait for the new PS4S but I'll probably be showing cord by then, for the same price I don't want to get the out going model. What sort of deal did you get if you don't mind me asking?

So I went to the dealership and it looks like my rear tires need to be replaced. My fronts are fine at 6/32. Would you guys suggest to replace all 4 or swap out the rears. I want to replace the rears with MPSS

Going back to the OPs Q, I suspect that the lack of a LSD may mean the V6 is harder on its rear tyres than other models, but I'm currently at 12k and will be replacing the rears shortly.

At least they're evenly worn. An Italian make I used to own had a reputation for destroying the inner edges of the driven tyres in <5k due to an alignment issue from the factory...

just replace the rear's. You may find yourself understeering a bit but you can adjust to that.

Yes, but that's why I suggested that with the superior grip of the MPSSs in the rear, you'll be experiencing understeer in front with the P-Zero, but you can adjust your driving style to safely accommodate until you replace the fronts.
