Default Replacing Seat Belts

Has anyone ever replaced their seatbelts? I currently have black with red stitch seats and black belts but want to look into red belts.

I bought the car ex-demo from a dealer but was told they wouldn't be able to change the belts. I'm sure this can't be true!

It is. It's just labor intensive as pretty much the the rear bulkhead needs to come apart to access the seatbelts

Not something I think I'd like to tackle myself then. A shame!

Not that bad if you have a free weekend with nothing to do. On another note is red the only other color available? Is yellow an option?

I just saw a bright yellow SVR coupe that I think had yellow seat belts. I honestly cannot find the picture though. There may be other colors out there.

My coupe is black with black and red stitch interior. The red belts would really set it off well if I can get them.

Does anyone have a write up / tutorial on how to change the belts perhaps? I didn't see one in the write up section of the forum.

If you really are hell bent on getting you, I'll PDF the procedures. But considering how rattle and creak prone the F-TYPE is, I haven't done it. The only way I would do it is by replacing all the trim fasteners with new ones so I know I'm getting a nice tight fit again.

You make a very good point - I don't think red belts are worth any potential creaks and rattles! I'll sleep on it and let you know if I want to go ahead with it. Thanks for the offer though.

about $3k to have it done at shop with the belts ... switched mine from black to red.

I'd have preferred red belts with my black seats and it was a $350 option I think at the build time but previous owner didn't bite. $3K is a bit rich for my taste to fix it :-(

Sounds like the dealer charged you a significant premium to get that swap done; the belts are only about $300 each at retail price. I looked up the labor times that JLR allocates for seatbelt replacement; at the most its about 2 hours at the most for both side for disassembly and reassembly. Average labor per hour here in CA is about $150 at retail rates. Bringing a total to about $1000.

Do you have your invoice? I'm curious as to what and how they billed you for.

looked at my bill, was about $1,500, was $3k in my 911 turbo, 4 belts.
