I have a Manual Trans 2017 F-Type and I am looking to upgrade from an "open" rear diff to a Limited Slip version.
I hope to get the published part number of interest... so it easy to get a rear diff from the salvage yards.
(the Jaguar part number of interest T2R4000 is not printed on the part, so is not of use to salvage yards)
Here is what I have on Jaguar part numbers and the published part number
OEM Jaguar P/N
Base Model (Open Diff) ZF 8 Speed Auto T2R 17980 , Manual T2R 18657
S Model (Limited Slip) ZF 8 Speed Auto T2R 4000 , Manual T2P 1783
R Model (Electronic Diff) ZF 8 Speed Auto T2R22213 (replaces T2R15908)
Note: the label on the actual differential has a different part number that usually starts in EX53-#@###-@@
I have seen ratios of 3.15, 3.31, and 3.55
So just trying to zoom in on which tag number is the right one so I can order a Limited Slip Diff for my Manual F-Type
Thanks in advance for any more info.

Just did the LSD swap into a base automatic from a Type S donor. Can confirm it fits and drives without throwing any codes. I'm getting a slight howling noise at certain speed intervals which I am suspecting is due to the pre-load being out of spec. Definitely a noticeable difference and a lot of fun to get the wheels locked up on turns and cornering. Going to look into if any changes are needed to the ABS module as well.
Also in the process found out my car is loaded with VAP pulleys, downpipe, and lowering springs.

@dbritt320
Do you have a picture of the tag number from the rear differential Type S donor car?
It should be something like EX53-4A213-ZZ
How is the rear end working for you?
Do you drive with DCS in the "on" mode, or do you use TracDCS, or DCS off?
Inquiring minds want to know!

I absolutely love it. No complaints at all. I drive with it both on and off... Definitely more fun with it off though

@BONESTOCK No.. Look in this thread on the latest info on the Ford 8.8 vs. Jag F-Type rear
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-245971/page3/
@dbritt320 Interesting.. I have the -AA rear diff down as the early Automatic open diff.
Can you confirm it is an LSD?
Can you leave two stripes of sand when pulling away on a dirt surface with DCS off?

Good trick.
I also did some VIN look up for parts from eBay to see if the donor car was an S model or not.
Not every used part listing offers the VIN, so it can be a crap shoot.
Too bad there is not some data base correlating the part’s tag number with the Jaguar parts catalog number.
That would make the hunt far too easy!

Quick update ladies and gentlemen. Check engine light came on a while back. Got the codes scanned. Mostly Idle airflow codes, however at the very bottom there is one for output shaft sensor. Obviously that is the differential. Car still runs like a wet dream and has smoked everything I've come across (even keeping up will hellcats!). Im gunna live with the light until the feel gives me indication otherwise. Consider we have supercharger upgrades, a tune, downpipes, and LSD swap... I think this is gunne be feel it out and see. Absolutely no regrets still!

Jump over to the "V6 Base LSD Swap" thread for more details. (link below)
If you are interested in the 3.31 ratio (or other gear ratios found in the F-Pace or XE/XF models)
Then the new Quaife ATB is probably your best bet, as we are setting it up to cover a wide range of ratios.
I can add you to our list of interested members. We may initiate an order in the coming weeks.
The historical approach is to find a F-Type V6S rear differential housing with tag number EX53-4A213-AA
These friction based LSD's are hard to find, and are often worn out after 30-50kmiles of driving... which is discussed in the below thread (about page 4)

I just wanted to update the thread that I've had my helical diff from Herman installed in my F-type (6mt, base) for a couple of months now, and it has been great. Driving it home from the shop, I noticed an immediate difference in the confidence/predictability the car provides in low traction situations. The car maintains more grip and is more predictable, the traction control is much less likely to activate, since the car is much better able to put the power down. I would really recommend this upgrade, and working with Herman has been great.
Next up is aluminum y-pipe and cooling upgrade (Euro-Amp), catch can, and a pulley and tune,
-Will
