I think a gel seat cushion should solve the comfort problem for me. My XJ8L rides like a cloud partly due to its air suspension that soaks up bumps like marshmallows. I'm reluctant to sell the car even though I'd like to get something newer and more sporty (but still comfy).
Thanks! I have something like that for my Benz.
And I am guessing that Buckingham is more referring to the massive mudslide and devastating bridge washout on either end of Big Sur, rather than the severity of the road (yours looks like fun BTW )
Not a big fan of my seats in the 2015 R, nor sure if it is sport or performance(what's the difference?
Cushion is too little especially on the butt. No real complaint on the adjustability, though i'd would love to be able to recline the seatback a tad bit further.
Yesterday I were at lexus, they had a LC convertible on the floor unlocked, I sneaked my way in without anyone bothering me, now man that seat was comfortable, soft cushioning, non adjustable side bolster but holds my slimmer asian body really well(with down jacket on).
leg, especially knee space was quite a bit bigger adjusted to my driving position, but that's more on the cdenter console design than the seats.
Edit: I'd change the seats out for a softer on in a heartbeat, if later model year had softer ones and are compatible with the 2015.
Great thread! I don't own an F type yet, but during even short test drives, I find the base sport seats quite uncomfortable and hot. As a result, I am eliminating all F types from my search with those seats. The upgraded performance seats are more comfortable, again my experience is limited to just during short test drives.
My question is how do the '18 and up model year seats feel in comparison? Base and or uograded?
Seats that feel comfortable in the showroom can feel very different after you've been driving in them for a couple of hours. I found Recaros really comfortable for long journeys but they're rock hard in the showroom compared to the armchairs in the "comfy cars".

Softness gives initial impression and perceived comfort, while ergonomic determines long term comfort. I don't have experience with the LC on ergonomic(i should try it next time, even though i'd probably never buy a lexus), the F type seat is only passable at best on both.
Some of the best seat I have sat in was ironically a base c7 corvette, my roommate had it for a while and I have driven it more than 1000 miles, never gave me any back pain even though it looked like a plain jean, I have no idea where the magic lies.
my 328i had a really uncomfortable and unsupportive seat, hated it, while a friend's 535i was miles better.
Im a firm believer that a road car should have comfy seat and comfy suspension tuning, even if it is a sports/super car. after all if you really needed to prevent body sliding around, you'd get a bucket with alcantara surface and a 6point harness, nothing less.
I am tall-ish. The seats in my F-Type are far more comfortable than those in my Z4. It is not ideal, but I rarely drive for more than 3 hours straight.
I'm 6'2" 220lbs and have struggled to find the perfect seat settings.
My legs start to hurt after about an hour of driving.
Any other tall people with comfort issues?
If you try to move the seat to the most aft position with a single operation, it will rebound and index itself forward again by an inch or two. If you need a bit more leg room, you can bump the seat back by that 1 or 2 inches by tapping the reverse button a few times rather than holding it. For me it made a world of difference.
I have the sports seats (i.e. not performance seats) and find them very comfortable. Have done six 13-14 hour drives with no issues. The adjustable bolster is nice.
This! Far more comfortable than previous cars I've had. (try doing 6 hours in an Elise!)
