Default S, R, Dynamic et all Nomenclature Explained

I'm hoping someone can explain these designations for folks like myself who still haven't the foggiest

V8R
SV
SVR
S
R
Dynamic
First Edition
F-Type 75
Project 7
400 Sport
Heritage 60
Reims
Dynamic R Black
550PS
300PS

As I understand it the S designates a trim level above the base and R designates Racing ?

Any F-Type offering Dynamic control, is then designated DYNAMIC ?

Hoping someone knowledgeable can definitively clear this up for me and others.

BEST !

RWS

Most of those are model types. SV indicates Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operation (SVO). The 550PS and 300PS are the engine powers of the V8 and 4-pot respectively (in the US they say it's the BHP). The V6 comes in 340PS and 380PS depending on the tune. The new top of the range (and the previous SVR model) is 575PS.

Hope this helps, ask further as necessary.

V8R - I think you are referring to the early model V8S, back in 2014 when the F-Type first was announced, there was a V6 model and a V8 model, they did not refer to the V8 model initially as the R, instead they called it the V8S.

SV - Technically it is SVO, Special Vehicle Operations - they are the group at JLR that focused on the SVR model cars, Project 7, Project 8, XKR-S GT, concept cars, race teams, etc. A special group inside JLR that engineers this sort of work.

SVR - A special model Jaguar F-Type trim level (and other models) to indicate additional features/looks that other models did not include. For instance, the SVR F-Type included different suspension, exhaust, interior, exterior options that were only found on that trim level. (i.e. tuned to 575HP from factory, more luxurious interiors, different front bumper/splitters/rear diffuser/wing, etc.)

S - Another trim level. Most S model F-Types were tuned from the factory to 380HP above the standard 340HP. Plus other "packages" you could add to it.

R - Typically referred to as the V8 trim level model. Right above the S, but below the SVR in the pre-facelift designed vehicles. (this changed later). Resulting in V8 engine, plus other available colors, packages (i.e. leather interiors for instance were standard). Later years, once the new-design (2021) were released, they no longer sold the SVR model and instead rebranded it as the new R model (so a 2021 R is technically an SVR) and in the same year, the V8 was now referred to as a P450

Dynamic - The former V6 S trim model, was rebranded as the Dynamic R model. Confusing because it was just a 380HP V6 model, this is when they also introduced the P450 and the new R (former SVR) trim levels.

First Edition - Special trim level to signify the first versions of any model year cars, this is used across multiple models.

F-Type 75 - Another special trim edition, a tribute to the last of the F-Types. Only 75 being produced with special color, trim, etc.

Project 7 - The Jaguar F-Type Project 7 was alimited edition variant of the 1st Gen Jaguar F-Type, the had a wide range of differences (front facia - often sought after), different type of convertible with noticeable arch behind the driver. An after thought detachable roof that literally snapped onto the car.

400 Sport - Special trim package for model years it was released that tuned V6 motor to 400HP and included unique to this trim yellow accented seats, interior, brake calipers, front lip, etc.

Heritage 60 - A special limited edition (only 60 made), 60th anniversary of the E-type, edition of the 2021 F-Type R (remember, for 2021 this was like the SVR)

Reims - Limited edition of the 2021 F-Type that only came in French racing blue, only 150 were made, only available in the UK and limited to either the P450 or P300 models.

Dynamic R Black - Special trim edition of the 2021 model F-Types that included black pack (badges, wheels, trim, etc.)

550PS - Not sure on this one? Perhaps just the indicator on the V8 power output of the models that from the factory came out at 550HP?

300PS - 4 Cylinder model of the F-type

..."550PS - Not sure on this one? Perhaps just the indicator on the V8 power output of the models that from the factory came out at 550HP?".

PS =
pferdestärke, a German word meaning horsepower. Also known as metric horsepower. It has been the usual European measure of engine power for a few years now and was adopted by JLR some time ago. A little less than the old brake horsepower so that 550 PS = 542 bhp.
This is where the later F-type designations come from such as P300, P380, P450 etc.

German words for a British car, go figure!

One minor correction. While the new R does have some of the pieces of the former SVR, it isn't an SVR. Some of the suspension components, the rear diffuser and the engine mapping carried over from the SVR, but the rest of the pieces did not.

Another minor correction. The Dynamic R is actually the R Dynamic.
