a sad day for me
a guy ran his red light and smashed into my car destroying the left front suspension, lights, etc. no fault of mine.
as you all can imagine, I am heartbroken and depressed. collision center says it will take at least a month. I hope my baby comes back to me the same. I'm so sad.
thought I'd seek some solace in this forum.

My condolences, friend.

also, I was leasing the car so at least don't have to worry about the carfax aspect
thanks

Yes, the lease certainly lessens that worry, but still sorry you will be without for so long. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Over the years (40+) in 3 such instances, GEICO has gone after miscreants that were uninsured and the company prevailed each time. I got my deductible returned. If all insurance companies were that diligent, uninsured drivers might not be so prevalent. (Thank you, Warren).

Sorry OP. I think the lack of insurance adds insult to injury

Apparently, the states of Maryland and Minnesota will seize bank accounts and garnishee wages based on court judgments, and Geico will file those cases since they are infrequently defended and the courts have no patience with uninsured motorists either. Other insurers do not appear to be so aggressive.

Ouch, poor car, but as others have said I'm glad you're physically ok. (I hope so anyway as you didn't mention any injury.) Fortunate about being leased too.
I never understand why uninsured drivers are not extra careful when driving to avoid being caught? I hope there is some sort of criminal record that will be persued by the courts/your insurers for them even if they can't get financial redress. If someone is that bad at driving then it should be made even harder for them to do so.
In my last shunt I was rear-ended in my XJ by someone following too close and too fast. When I got over the initial shock of "what the heck was that?" I got out the car and was susprised how calm I was. I always assumed I would get angry in a situation like that when it is so easily avoidable but instead the first thing that came into my mind was "at least it is metal and plastic not flesh and bone". Keep that mindset and the stress of dealing with the repairs and the insurance company is a lot less. Statistically we are all going to be involved in collisions at some point. If yours is one you can walk away from you've done alright.
It's always hard to know exactly what has happened under the obvious visible damage in shunts like that so please do post back with the end result. It is useful to know how the cars respond to this sort of damage.
