If you financed from jag it shouldn't matter if you have gap. The terms I had on my current XF precluded any need for it because the loan simply cancelled in the event of a total.

Never had a lease, but my take is that you are responsible for the lease no matter what happens (unless the terms are otherwise). You need to make sure that the insurance gives you enough to cover the remaining lease payments and probably the residual. All that said, the insurance company knows what to do. At any rate, turn down the first offer from the insurance.

If you leased through Jag/Chase, GAP is included (page 5):

In the event there is a total loss, destruction, or theft of the vehicle, we will waive your liability
for any “GAP amount,” provided you are in compliance with your insurance requirements.
This GAP Amount Waiver is included in your lease at no additional cost.

You are okay, but the stress and waiting alone is exhausting, and I can just imagine the let down. It could be any one of us at any moment. I am so sorry.

Commemorate it well.

thanks for the confirmation that Chase has my gap covered. I feel better.
yes uncle fishbits...you never know when stuff like this happens. my advice to you guys, ultra defensive driving when in your f type. the consequences just drag on too long.

You are right about ultra-defensive driving; I learned that lesson in my Porsche. An old lady in a van backed into me at a stop sign! I could not get out of her way because of a car behind me. Her insurance obviously paid for everything but now I leave a car length between me and any car in front at a light or stop sign. IMHO there are a lot more bad drivers out there than there used to be!

Please post your vin if you are comfortable with it. It's always interesting to see how totaled cars show back up in the market after they get sold off by the insurance companies.
