Scheduling Service

Scheduling Service
My 2018 is due for annual maintenance by the end of May. I figured I better call and schedule it as I have seen posts about long wait times at dealers for service. I also wanted a loaner which could delay it even further. I did not want to commit the cardinal sin of missing the annual maintenance window.
The earliest the dealer could take me was tomorrow, much to my surprise. Tomorrow did not work for me, so I am going in next week.

At the height of COVID restrictions it was tough. The dealers were short-handed and loaners not offered. Now, I think I could get an appointment for routine matters at my dealer with a couple of week's lead and courtesy cars are again available.
As a side note, I never bring my car in for scheduled service on a Friday. One little thing could delay completion and then I'd be without it for the weekend.

my dealer in Marin, north of SF, is still struggling with staffing. But the infrastructure and systems is really what they need to improve.
It's like service reps and mechanics don't communicate, because they never fix all the reasons I've brought it in (codes, warning, etc)
And the lack of staff in the front of house definitely makes it so you've got to be an advocate for yourself, because they'll never call.
I hate it. They had my #*!#@!!#*@!&*@!& car for a month for normal service, and two codes (reduced performance, limited SOS) AND THEY DIDN'T FIX THE SOS
admittedly, they ran into a factory installed bolt problem that was a morass. but the idea of having to go back in again for something is stupid.
HOWEVER, they knew they had effed up, and got me a high end Range Rover Velar loaner, and it was quite shocking how first class it was for the starting price.
But I'd love to hear in this thread about people's wait times for the car to be serviced. As a consumer, if there's nothing I can do to fix the situation at my dealer, I guess I need to look at the SF or south bay ones?
