Service department messed up my car?
Took my 2017 S . in for oil/filter , all fluids flush/refill, brakes bleed, rear diff fluid change
picked up the car, drove half way to work then saw a lot of vapor/smoke coming up from the hood.
I figured maybe coolant leak so I pulled over quickly and popped the hood. Please refer to the 1st pic below, this is what i saw when i opened the hood.
The coolant cap was sitting off or wasn't tighten enough and came off like that. That was a left over razor blade on the engine cover too. Talk about a messy job.
I figured I'd tighten the cap and drive back to the dealer/service department asap, I saw the coolant fluid everywhere so I cleaned it off the electrical wires/pipes and started driving back to dealer.
Half way back the *Engine Overheating prompt came on, went away after 2 blocks then *Low Coolant Level came on right before i pulled into the service department I heard the engine knocking noise for about 5 seconds. The same service advisor greeted me again, told him what happened, he apologized and I can tell he felt really awful but I know it's not his fault. They quickly called the technician and took the car up again.
They asked me if the engine light came on, it didn't so they said it shouldn't be any issues but they would have a look at the engine bay and clean everything then run and test it tomorrow.
Should I be worried about potentially a bigger issue since the fluids spilled out so much and went everywhere?
I have taken my car to this Jag/Land Rover dealer/service 3-4 times now in the past and have had no issues, always great service.
Jaguar/Land Rover San Francisco. Man today was a major fck up from a simple loose cap.
In the meantime, they gave me a Velar to use
When i opened the hood
before pulling over
**picture below , should I be concerned about that? a lot of the coolant fluid went in there or is the wiring water/fluid proof ?

It was about 2-3 miles then I noticed the leak, pulled over , closed the lid then slowly drove 2-3 miles back to service center

Real sloppy work , the main problem being that coolant corrodes, as soon as you get word to come and pick the car up open the hood in front of the service advisor and lift of the engine cover to look and see that no liquid s are present around engine bay , and of course make sure the coolant cap is on tight

At that short distances and not pushing car hard, probably just air pockets that need taken care of. Though I'm not that experienced in the F-Type engines, I've lived through blown headgaskets when I daily drove my much cheaper 2001 Subaru 2.5RS back in college. Hoping no warping or damage outside of needing to burp the car. Definitely recommend keeping the dealer accountable.

***update
Got my car back the day after and had a conversation with the advisor regarding the matter and asked them to be responsible if any issues arises from this incident. Popped the hood, everything looked good and the car has been driving like new.
I also wrote an e-mail to the head service guy and CC'd Jaguar national ( the complaint department) , they got back to me quick with a case number and said they will contact the dealer about what went wrong. .... i guess now theres a papertrail if anything goes wrong

I know from the mech that takes care of my '06 XK8 that ALL shops are having problems finding good workers, in all areas. No one wants to work!
Sounds like your advisor is on top of the problem. I would watch the car constantly, and take it in when the least problem arises. I would hope that the tech that worked your car is now collecting unemployment.
I typically do not like using dealer service after warranty is out, but the local JLR dealer in Ft. Myers does great work, and the service advisor I deal with gets B'day cards from her 'Clients'. She is that good.

I’ve just had something almost identical. Water pump replaced as it was leaking, drove 10 miles home after this and a full service….. 2 days later take it a mile down the road, low coolant message, turn straight back round, got home and coolant pi$$ing everywhere, all over the road, took engine cover off and plumes of steam/smoke and coolant all over the engine. Put 2L of coolant in (once it had cooled slightly) and nowhere near minimum level. Not good.
garage closed at the weekend, going to be an interesting phone call tomorrow.
OP - any sign or concern of any lasting damage?
