Putting out a feeler...
Who in the San Francisco Bay Area is up for a December cruise/drive? I know December is tough with holidays and all (plus the unpredictable weather)...but would love to end the year with a casual meetup/cruise. It's dungeness crab season, so maybe something like a drive to Half Moon Bay along highway with a seafood lunch in HMB? I just want to see 5+ F-Types along the coast!
Want to see an epic video of 5+ F-Types revving ![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
yes/no/maybe?

I lived in Palo Alto for 10 years and have many fond memories of cruises along the coastal highway, to Monterey/Carmel, lunch stops at HMB, and lovely drives to Napa and Sonoma. It's stunningly beautiful country.
However, even though I currently live in the Washington, DC metro area and work in downtown DC, I live "out in the middle of nowhere" just a mere 20 miles east of DC. We're blessed with beautiful scenery (horse farms and agricultural land), with relatively deserted, twisty roads, and plenty of undulating hills. It's hard to believe that such a rural area exists so close to the nation's capital, and it's been a great place to stretch out a number of fun cars.

Spectacular day...a sunny crisp autumn day,and light traffic combined with some great food and an awesome view...it's no wonder Sam's is so highly rated, and justifiably so.
My wife had the lobster roll ($23) and it was pretty much lobster overload,no way really to eat it as a sandwich but super-yummy none-the-less. Just lobster and butter...simple and satisfying!
I had me some cherrystone clams on the half shell, Manhattan clam chowder and Oysters Rockefeller...which I must say were the best I have ever sampled, and I have had my fair share of Rockefeller's! Can't wait to go back!
My entrée was a crab & shrimp Louie salad with pear and my wife thought it was yummy as well....$185 lunch, but it's all quality and it's done well.
Exactly 200 miles door-to-door round trip for me and the computer says I'm averaging 22.9mpg which is shocking high to me.

Sam's was one of my favorite haunts. Thanks Buick, those pictures brought back great memories.
BTW, you must be "messing around" a little with that throttle. For a short period of 400 miles or so, I was able to do as well as 25.1 combined city/highway leaving it in eco mode and driving like grandma. It was just an experiment.

I’ve eaten at Sam’s Chowder House several times…good stuff! After seeing your photos I am tempted to drive there for dinner.

Don't get me wrong, we have plenty of great fish joints here with fantastic views...but I'd still go back, certainly worth the cruise and my wife says she wouldn't mind staying at the Beach House Hotel right next door.
