SF Bay Area Spring F-Type Drive
#21
Alright, let's pencil in a date and tentative route so we can plan accordingly.
Event: Spring 2015 Bay Area F-Type Drive
Date: Saturday, March 21
Start: Woodside, CA
Finish: Half Moon Bay, CA
Itinerary: Meet at 10 AM at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage 2969 Woodside Road, Woodside, CA 94062. There's a Chevron across the street so we can fill up while we wait for everybody to arrive.
Depart at 10:30 AM to Half Moon Bay via Highway 84 then Highway 1. Google Maps say it's 36 miles, about 1 hour drive. Time really depends on traffic but we should be early enough to avoid most traffic. Should get to Half Moon Bay Brewing Company around 11:30-12pm for lunch. Bring some cash, they don't split up bills.
Route/Format: The first stretch of 84 is slow and tight. Then it opens up as you get through La Honda and head towards the coast. There will cyclists and you may get stuck behind slow cars. Be patient. Enjoy the day. You don't want to be a jerk, cause an accident, end up on YouTube! We'll divide the group up in the "spirited drivers" and the "cruisers". The spirited drivers can leave first and drive spiritedly (but responsibly). Then the cruisers will follow for a more casual cruise. I'll be in the cruisers group because I'll be bringing my new Boston Terrier puppy and I don't want her to ge too car sick. So dog and significant other friendly :-) Before getting onto Highway 1, let's stop along the side of the road to regroup. Then it's just an easy drive up Highway 1 to HMB for lunch.
I'm going to make a reservation. If the weather is nice then HMB Brewing Company can get very busy. So Please let me know if you can make it or if you need to cancel.
Any other suggestions? I'll try to ping British Motors to see if they want to "sponsor" us. Maybe get some free key chains, lunch, who knows...

Once again you are our Captain T,we're just along for the ride. I will be in the cruiser group as well because the last time I tried to chase the V8 leaders,I was subject to the mercy of the sticky tire throwing pebbles accosting my nose from those rather brutest V8's so I will sit back and enjoy the ride instead...

Going to keep track of the attendance list on this post and will update accordingly. LMK if your name is missing, if you are bringing your wife/GF/mistress/*********/puppy, or if you can no longer make it. Regarding the restaurant, need to look for another one in the HMB area...HMB Brewing Company doesn't accept reservations for outdoor patio seating.

I've finalized the restaurant: Cafe Capistrano. Only HMB restaurant that takes reservations for outdoor seating. Hopefully the weather will be amazing for Spring day, so bring some sunscreen/hat. And the reviews are pretty good for the food as well. Suppose to have great fish tacos, fish platters as well as other Mexican/Mayan food.

Figured you'd say that...actually spoke with Phil Endliss the treasurer of the JAG club,we pass right by his house on Sand Hill Rd,maybe he'd like to join as well...and he said to put it out there on their new mobile app.

BTW, I was looking at the route a little more...thinking about adding a stop at the La Honda Fire Station / Market. 10 minute pitt stop. It's about half way through the drive. Give us a chance to grab a drink, use restroom, regroup so we're back in a pack. And of course take a few photos. Here's the updated plan: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8680/...86fbd9f4_o.jpg

You guys are killing me, especially this time of year. I know every corner and mile of all the roads you're traversing, as well as all of the landmarks from both air and ground. I used to fly my airplane (based at Palo Alto airport) out there, and scorched all of those roads during my younger BMW phase, when I lived there.
I am well and truly jealous!
