and she's built...and questions
Hello all,
I just had word that my new F-Type was built on 4/5!
I received another confirmation of the build and there was in increase of $2,200 - a quick check of the VIN confirmed model year 2023- and the price increase.
I also was sent an "Event History Log" that showed the progression but I have a few questions that maybe someone can help me with.
The event history log has a date for Built and then a few terms I don't understand- can anyone help me understand the following terms and possible timetable?
Built (obvious) 4/5/22
Build Market Distribution
On Ship - (obvious)
In Market Distribution
On Truck to Retailer- (again obvious)
thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your purchase. Looks like regular overseas car shipping information to me. Without a date for departure from port/market distribution center, it is going to be a guesstimate as to how long It will reach your dealer. Sometimes, they load vehicles in trains en route to closer regional distribution centers and from there, they are trucked the rest of the way. Of course, this also depends on which port your vehicle arrived. Did your dealer give you any other tracking information?
Which model of F Type did you get?

My salesman was able to provide the name of the ship that carried my F-Type from Southampton to Brunswich, GA. I followed its every port call. It was the Morning Calypso and took eight days to complete its journey to Brunswich.

That sounds like a great combination. We'll need pictures when it arrives. My F type had to come through the Panama Canal and then be delivered to either Long Beach or a port in Los Angeles before being loaded onto one of those auto transport trucks to be delivered to my dealer. It took about 3 weeks from the time it was shipped.
My salesman sent me a few photos right after they unloaded it while it was still covered with the protective wrappings. I couldn't wait to take delivery.

Thanks Dwight!
I'm hoping it won't go all the way to the West coast to end up in Colorado. My previous orders (non Jag) have arrived in Houston and Baltimore. I will keep on them to let me know which ship it is on. I am monitoring Southampton port. I told my dealer to let me know when it arrives- I want to see it as soon as she arrives- not to be "that guy" but because I'm a bit of nerd about seeing how they ship it.

2023 delivery time table- a puzzler
So I have been reviewing the timeline my dealer supplied to me that they have. As notice above, built date 4/5, Build Market Distribution 4/19. Interestingly it says "at retailer 6/17" and "Retailed 7/2/22".
I was trying to wrap my head around how they can have at retailer date without it being on a ship yet.
It occurred to me- since it is a 2023MY, maybe JLR are they holding it back until June for release to the market- does anyone know if Jaguar does this?
It would corroborate by my dealer is saying they have no way to tell which ship the car is coming over on- which is strange considering all of the others in this forum (and my personal experience with other vehicles)
Any insight?

Things may have changed, but I expect your car will be trucked from San Diego.
