Default Shift into neutral without turning engine on?

Is there any way to put the car into neutral while in the "accessory" position, without firing it up?
Thanks.

You'll need to open the center console. There will be a thin, almost candy bar shape black trim ( #2 in the picture below ) on the side. You can take a small pick or flat blade screw driver to pop this up. Under it will be the EPR ( Emergency Park Release ), there will be a red strap on it. You'll see a piece that you have to use a large flat blade to turn it, this will allow you to move the vehicle without starting it. Just remember to turn it back when you're done.

Yep, it's in the Owner's Manual under Vehicle Recovery, page 195 in mine.
Good to practice it in case you ever need to do it, I had trouble getting the little trim panel off, but if you look closely it has little slots underneath near each end that a small screwdriver will fit into so you can lever it off. I now carry a spare stubby screwdriver in the centre bin.

Back to the OP's original question, if you need to roll the car a bit with the engine off then start 'er up, whack it into N, then shut 'er down, it will stay in N for about 10 minutes before automatically going back into P.

Dang, that isn't intuitive or easy... Thanks! And now that Oz mentioned it, I do remember reading about it in the owner's manual. Thanks to you too!

I tried a dry run and that black cover doesn't want to come out, even prying on it with a screwdriver. I'll wait until that day comes - hopefully never.

If it's new, or has never been out, the clips are usually pretty firm and sometimes don't release very easy. Just have to pry easy and it will come up. To turn the lock to disengage the emergency brake, your spare key blade that's inside the key is good for turning the lock if you don't have a flat blade screw driver.

Yeah, I tried, it was pretty hard to pry up. I got it up about 1/2 way, saw the red strap & figured that was good enough for now

I now own a uk 65 plate F type which as let me down and refusing to Crank the engine, Everything is looking to the Starter motor but been worried about how to recover the vehicle with it stuck in Park. This video has been a life safer as those that should be in the know clearly do not, and were talking about putting skids under the rear wheels. This will not now be necessary. Surprised also that the garage to which the vehicle is to recovered to did not know either and they are a Jaguar Independent Garage..
