Short Shifter, Anyone?

to me, the lever change was dramatic! "How hard could it be" for Jag to change the specs. Probably impossible. Imagine who you have to get to at Jag to consider and approve a change. Thus, the mouse finds the cheese and the cat just looks for the low hanging fruit and mice too fat to run.

I think the annular weight is now just right for the shorter throw. Allows the stick to still move freely despite the reduced mechanical advantage.

Installation would take all of 10 minutes once the piece is fabricated. The gate plate would install in place of the boot. The upper stick would need to be modified for a decent appearance and a different knob would be needed since it is held on firmly with the boot collar. (note to self: finish P7 grille project first).

Now I need to think about it a bit more ...

That mirrors my thinking, although I hadn't gone so far as to consider the knob and a finisher for the shifter. Now that I think about it, the large diameter of the shifter may make the gate look a little odd. My mental picture was of an old Ferrari with a shaft ~10mm in diameter. If the slots in the gate are too wide, I think the cool factor will go down quite a bit.

Window Clings on the Way
BTW, you need to clean the inside of the rear windows occasionally. To apply the cling, I cleaned mine for the first time in almost 2 years and it left the cleaning cloth soot black.
