Thank you for researching this. I tried to locate the OEM part numbers for the shifter to see if maybe it too changed or is the same, but had no luck. I expect to receive the car within the next 10 days and will measure the throw length from 3rd to 4th and report back. I'll also check with the parts department while I'm there for part numbers for 2016 - 2019 shifters.
The numbers I listed in post 240 are the part numbers. At this point, if the OEM throw is still 4”, the only thing left is to do a test fit of the short-shift kit on the updated OEM shift rail.
Jaguar replaced my entire manual transmission earlier this year - back when some of us were having our clutch assemblies replaced a few years ago, my local dealer neglected to replace several parts in mine, and this caused me to completely lose 2nd gear in early 2018. Anyway, according to my warranty invoice, I got this new shift rail as part of the complete transmission replacement - there is significantly less play in the shifter now and the feel is hugely improved...

can you give me some idea of how to do this? Sorry - just need some basic instructions
I measure the distance from the bottom of the middle climate control knob to the outer edge of the metal cap on top of the shift knob. Take measurements in 3rd and 4th gears, and report the difference between the two.
The internet is bereft of visual help on the Carbon Fiber manual gearshift. This is the only pic that exists anywhere, and it's in the options side of configurator, but I am assuming no one has bought one, because I can't find a pic anywhere.

But if it's more comfy, etc.... that's great. I am getting it because it reduces some of the weight of the car <--- joke
I added it on a whim. I like our shifter, it's comfy, but it's a bit dull. I don't need it at all, but curious what it looked like installed. Maybe I have to get it so I can get a photo of it online. For posterity. =)

When did those knob first appear? I didn’t know there was such a thing until a few days ago when I was reviewing the part # updates for the shifter rail.

This tight boolean search with only 9 results (when does that ever happen??): https://goo.gl/cdCfa1
I installed the factory carbon fiber knob when I installed the patented Unhingd short throw. In fact Unhingd noticed the knob in the in a video and I provided him with the pn. At the time, he was assisting me on an issue
I was having with my install> The car is clearly quicker and lighter with the CF knob. Just night and day! NOT!!! But looks cool!

Clearly my memory is fading, but I like the knob. Those ounces add up.
Funny that, when I drove manuals (for all of the 40 years before I got my first Jag which was also my first auto) one of the first mods I did was to replace the stock shifter knob with the heaviest one I could find that fitted and looked good. I found that a heavy knob resulted in a more solid shift feel and made the shift easier and more precise.

Agreed, but on the F-Type, this is where a 0.52 kg weight is added to the shifter:

Yep, on a couple of cars, as well as swapping out the knob for a heavier one I added extra weight around the bottom of the shifter shaft.
Nothing as fancy as that bit in the pic, instead I found a chunk of raw lead, flattened it out with a hammer, wrapped it around the shaft and tied it down with a zip tie.
Worked great and never gave me a problem.
