How's the form factor of the carbon vs OEM knob? About the same? Does it *feel* different and more comfy? Or just the same?

I am concerned that the CF knob might not fit on any VIN prior to 40206 as it is not shown as a part for 2016 or 2017. Can anyone confirm one way or another. If so, then even if the short shifter can be mounted on a later model, an old version knob would be needed to complete the short-shifter installation (and maybe even shift boot).

feels comfy. does not get cold. But, lets face it, it is just a knob. Pure vanity.

Has anyone fitted the short shifter to a 2018 or 19 model?

Didn't Uncle Fishbits have the short shifter transferred to his new car? I haven't searched, but I thought he had.

Does anyone have an OEM MT shifter they’re willing to part with.? 4-H tech has quit making them and the OEM shifter can possibly be modified to serve the purpose.

I still have mine and you are welcome to it. If so, PM me and we can make that happen.

Does anyone have a short-shifter that hasn't been installed yet? I have to confirm a dimension to make them available again.

Ok...Finally making progress on converting An OEM shifter into a short shifter. I found a local machine shop that’s willing to make the modification.

I just ran across mine while doing some cleanup over the weekend. I unwrapped it to see if my mental image of a modification strategy even remotely matched reality. Suffice it to say, my recollection of the part was a little lacking. I'm curious what you'll end up with.

The attempt is to lengthen the shaft below the pivot ball without melting or otherwise damaging the plastic ball. I’ll have it early next week, if the test is successful.

Yes, that's the what. It's the how that I was pondering. I have a couple of thoughts but lack the tooling (and a few OEM shifters) to experiment. I've got one only. If you end up needing another for your experiments, drop me a PM.

Thanks for the offer. If this project is successful, we’ll need one or two more OEM shifters to modify for inventory. I envision a core charge to encourage folks to return their OEM shifter after they do the swap.

Look. This is a family website. We don't have to be foul. This sort of adult language isn't what I expected.
And jokes aside, I was REALLY near your house yesterday and thought to bother you.
But i was a sherpa for a Kardashian level of nonsense birthday party for a 1 year old at Brookside park,
*&*.... my wife was aggressively "Reach out to unhinged!!!!"

And I was like

"consider sitting on your couch with your lovely wife for the first weekend in months, nothing to do, and then some idiot Californian says, OUT OF NOWHERE, "we're in the neighborhood!!!"

I am a student of John Mulaney, in that "Cancelled plans are like heroin for adults". And Sebastian Maniscalco in this clip.

So I will plan ahead, Unhinged. In the future. But enjoy the clip and know I respect you.

or it is like you are in a convoy as a big rig trucker, because even my Jeep Wrangler had a shorter throw and I believe the stick-shift was about 2 feet long. LOL

I am so happy for you. I'm away from my car, on the east coast, and just had the opportunity to drive a 2006 Corvette, manual. Icannot get over how special our F-Type is, and you grabbing one of the last greatest manual transmission cars on the planet Earth is something to cherish and enjoy and celebrate and appreciate.

Congratulations, new human member person. It's truly one of the last great joys of feeling deeply connected to a machine.
