Question Side skirt removal.

I have had my MY16 F's fat side skirts and front 'winglets' wrapped in piano black, followed by expel ultimate to look like the older models that had the black moulded parts, and to match the external black pack

The front winglets were easily removed and wrapped and it all looks great, however I'm not that pleased with the finished results (although we one Best F-Type in Show at a Show and Shine event recently ) of the side skirts as it is tremendously difficult to get right into the corner where the skirt meets the bodywork.

Come the winter, I want to remove the side skirts and do them properly, and wondered if anyone had details on how and where these are removed. I have a sneaky suspicion that they are bonded as well as bolted, but I may be wrong.

Any ideas, diagrams or what have you would be appreciated.

They aren't bonded. When mine were painted/replaced with the 15MY units, they just had to unbolt/unclip them. However i do not have information on where those fasteners are.

would there be any harm in removing the side skirts with the objective of leaving them off permanently? I am concerned about the decreased ground clearance when it comes to pulling in and out of my driveway. I know that a base V6 can clear the curb by extreme angling in/out, but this model doesn't have the skirts, and I'm dead set on AWD.

Aha! I did search the forums for that very picture, but couldn't find it - you did, thanks!

I'll put pictures up in a separate thread.

I doubt the side skirts will scrape if the front end makes it in ok. Oh, the AWD has just a LITTLE more clearance too.

After reading about the difficulty removing the skirts, and seeing the "hassle" involved, I never took mine off. I assume if you really wanted to you could simply leave the "finisher panel" off.

Well, I have had a look under the car, and can't find the way in. There are loads of 'Phillips' heads screws underneath near the sill, but I'm not sure these hold the sill on?

Maybe the 16 models are different to the 13/14 models fixings?

As I understand it, you'll need to take the sill panel off in order to remove the skirt?

The skirt is what they call the finisher panel. It's attached to the sill while off of the car, then attached as a whole unit to the car.

You can't simply take the skirt off as the attachment points are hidden under the sill...
