Default SIM Card Issues

I purchased a leftover new 2018 R-Dynamic in Ultra Blue two weeks ago. I am still trying to figure everything out. I am running into issues with connectivity.

When I enable the feature to allow the car to connect to the internet via the SIM card in the car I get a message stating, "SIM not supported".

There is a SIM card in the car. I also have the credit card sized plastic card that the SIM card was removed from as well as the brochure that came with it. I don't see any branding on it other than North America and ICCID.

The brochure indicates that prior to first use I need to activate my account. I am not sure if that has been done, or is the source of the problem. If it has not been done I have no idea how to go about activating it.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Have you tried the selling dealer? They should be able to help you get it sorted out. I'm in the UK and no SIM was supplied (other than the In Control one) so got a Virgin Mobile SIM , plugged it in and it just worked.

Have not tried them as of yet as they are seven hours away. I can try giving them a call, or try the local dealer if nobody on the forum has any ideas.

The local dealer should be your best bet, assuming they're decent (not a given, apparently!), as you're under warranty and they should have access to any necessary accounts.

I can get from Washington, DC to Boston in well under 7 hours. Where in Pennsylvania could you possibly be located to take any more than 3 hours to get to Pittsburgh, Harrisburg or Philadelphia?

Is this an AT&T Card? If so, you need to register it. Actually, even better, you should throw it away and go into a T- Mobile store and ask for a Data Only Card, they are plug and play plus they are normally good for 4G.

I have T-Mobile Cards in both our Range Rover and F-Type and they work perfectly.

The selling dealer should have a person in the dealership that can walk you through the registration process on the phone while you are in the car.

You can go back to any dealer to get the problem fixed.

I had the car at the dealer yesterday for a few minor issues. The SIM card was on the list. The dealer fixed it but removing the SIM card and putting it back in several times.
