Oddly enough, I'm having an aesthetics struggle with a car mod right now. I am looking at blacking out my badges and have even considered blacking the faces and making the raised edges red (to match my interior and brake calipers). She said both look cheap. I'm torn, as I have the black pack on my car and the chrome badges look a little out of place to me, but she has a spooky habit of being right...
You both could be right! It may indeed be too busy to go with two colors for the emblems, but I think chrome badging looks out of place on cars with the black pack. Many members here have painted their leaper and other badging black, looks great IMHO.

Just wait til 2019MY badging hits the streets. This doc, page 5.... there's new badging it seems. Weird badging.

It's the same with Range Rover. On my SO's Velar, there is a little black tag underneath Velar in the back that says P250 (signifying the 4 cylinder). The 6 has P380. Diesels start with a D instead of P. A decent write up is here:
Mats with leather matching the seats and console. Aftermarket, as Jag charges a whopping €477 for a similar finished set. These were only €47 delivered at home.

In preparation for the winter to come, I installed a Ctek battery conditioner connection, the OEM way.
Other than the JLR ones (which is Ctek as well), this type actually shows the condition of the battery, and way cheaper - browsing the net, I found one on sale for €17 only, delivered at home.

Did you have to make the cuts yourself? What model CTek did you purchase?

Yep, you need to cut/make the needed hole yourself. The JLR type requires a 17mm hole to be drilled.
I needed a rectangle hole, and made a little wooden template first matching the size of the Ctek box, just to make sure I was making the hole of a correct shape/size.
The trim is quite solid material, so if you were to cut, I would be careful. To get through, you'll need to apply quite some force, and then might accidentally make the cut too big...
I punched some little holes in first, then cut it out, but on purpose a bit too little to be on the safe side, and not to mess up my trunk trim.
Made the final shape by use of a metal file, until it matched my template perfect.
The one error I made - I made the hole a bit too high. There is some kind of electronic box behind the trim, and you are supposed to stay under.
I was actually lucky all did fit well after all, but the hole about an inch lower would be better.
I used this Ctek panel mount.
I did only remove the trunk's bottom trim, but kept the side panel in place - my guess you need to remove the panel if you were to use the JLR (Ctek) kit,
because of the nut needed on the back of the panel.
For reference, the JLR battery conditioner installation kit guide:

i want to do this also but I am worried that on a white car there may be some sort of staining left behind that I could not polish off.... anyone with white do this??? It is very busy back there with all the lettering....

No problemo regardless of the colour including white.
Remove the glue residue with your favourite remover (I use eucalyptus oil) then polish the area with your favourite low cut polish (I use Megs Ultimate Compound), then wax. Comes out looking like new with zero trace of where the badges were.
