Simulated suede dash etc.

Simulated suede dash etc.
Seeing a number of svr's with simulated suede dash, headliner, steering wheel in some cases. What is this material? Seems like if it gets soiled or picks up moisture from hands, window cleaning, etc, it is not going to be easy to maintain and look good. Anyone with this in their cars that can provide some input? Thanks,

One of the CPO cars I test drove had it on the seats. Not on the dash, not on headliner (convertible).
The seats had it inset as a wide band runing front/back in the center of the seat.
Looked OK and was intended to provide grip when corning fast.
Having cornered very fast without it, the upgraded leather seats hold you pretty tight and it has never been an issue.
It may have its advantages but compared to leather I think you trade off durability for style.
As for solving the "reflecting" dash, I have never experieced that problem with the non-suede dash.

I have the alcantara dash in my SVR. I would not have ordered it that way, but it's what the car had. It looks cool, but Jag didn't put it over the airbag section of the dash, so it only covers about 2/3 of the dash, which looks kind of dumb in my opinion. Also, something that has always bothered me is that the airbag chunk of leather does not have the colored stitching that the rest of the interior has. It's like they just got lazy and had only one type of airbag cover to use no matter the color combination of the interior. I don't know how yet, but some day I plan on having that remedied. Until Jag does it right, I would skip the alcantara option.

I’ve got the suede option in my 2015 R and love it. It’s got about 30k miles and shows no wear so far. This was the option I wanted when I was looking when purchasing…luckily found one. only thing I don’t like is that my back does get a little hot during the summer but that’s me as I have leather in my LX470 and have the same issue.
Am actually getting my steering wheel done with Alcantara atm…some may not like it as it’s a high touch surface but it’s my send car so not a problem for me.

The "suede"is actually a synthetic fabric, similar to a product called "ultrasuede". Having familiarity with Ultrasuede in garment construction, I clean the seat material in my F with warm water and a microfiber cloth. If you use an automotive upholstery cleaner, spot test first. Don't use leather creams or emollients. You will seriously stain it.. Here is info to Ultrasuede care:
