Default Smog check and dreaded low Battery warning

Just had my first CA smog check(2026) car. I have a new battery fully charged. Smog tech had to attach OBD2 reader. Next morning, got the dreaded low battery warning. But I know what to do from this forum. Disconnect battery snd reconnect to reset battery maintenance module.

Yep. That's the trick. It seems that emissions testing causes the problem - sometimes. It's not clear whether intermittent results are because of differences in the test equipment, or just that they weren't disconnected properly. I never had a problem here in NC, and now my county is exempt from testing, so I never got to compare results at different locations. But, the "fix" is easy enough, as you've read.

I'm glad I checked the forum tonight. I got mine smogged today and just checked. The hazard light is still on.

Time for the ol' battery module reset, plus a hookup to the trusty C-Tek.

Not just a warning light. It actually depleted my battery. Took 4 hours on the charger to fully recharge.

If I'd not checked this afternoon, that's what I've have seen tomorrow. Since my battery is one month shy of seven years old, that might have done it in for good. It's kind of on borrowed time anyway at that age.

Since this topic came up, I figured I'd hop on and ask: could somebody please remind me how to reset the one-touch window function after battery reset? I've forgotten the procedure.

Press and hold the driver's switch until the window goes all the way down. Then press and hold until it goes all the way back up--that should reset it. You may have to do the passenger side separately (but can do it from the driver's switches).

The procedure for my MY18 (according to the handbook) is
1. Close the window fully and release the switch.
2.. LIft the switch to the close position and hold for 2 seconds.
3. Repeat this process a total of 5 times.
Test the window to check that one-touch operation is working correctly. Repeat the process for the remaining window.

Hold the switch down until you hear a click inside the door.

I'm not sure, but is this question directed at me?

If so, see my most recent comment here:
