snow mode and restart

We all know that the car restarts automatically in Dynamic Mode if driven within 6 hours or so in Dynamic Mode. After a longer interval Dynamic Mode is canceled on restart.
I've noticed, however, that if I drive in Winter Mode (snowflake symbol), the car will automatically restart in that mode however long the interval—6 hours or 6 days? Is that the case with yours?

Since the car was certified under US EPA mileage regs with eco-mode on, it must be the default mode.
As I've noted here several times before, I'm surprised that we still have a button to turn off a system that improves fuel economy. I think that's a "loophole" that will soon be closed as fuel economy requirements tighten over time.

Mine certainly does operate below freezing as it did yesterday morning w/ the temp at 20şF, but it will not do so until the engine has reached normal operating temperature. It will also restart the engine before releasing the brake if heat is being called for. Similarly, in the summer, the engine will restart when the cabin thermostat calls for AC.
