Default Sold the XKR. New F-type R owner in Reno, Nevada.

I've been lurking in this forum for a while but waited to post until I actually made the move to an F-type R. It was sad seeing the XKR hauled away but after putting some miles on the F-type, no regrets. This was the first car I've ever purchased completely online. Only high-res pictures and reputation of an independent dealer in Los Angeles (MotoRenn) to go on. Just couldn't see how buying a 2018 F-type R with almost 2 years still on the factory warranty could be that risky. But stranger things have happened. So far so good. The only issue has been an over-filled oil sump when the car was delivered by carrier from LA over the Sierras to my driveway. I took it to my local Jag dealer for a quick oil change and the car came back with an over-filled oil sump again. But ... very good threads here on the over-filled issue. Will probably be doing my own oil changes from now on.

Anyway, hello to the forum. The amount of knowledge and experience in this forum is overwhelming.

Old and new. 2011 XKR vs 2018 F-type R

Old one is hauled away.

Welcome to the club.. The XKR was a nice luxury sports car, I looked at buying one but didn't, the F-Type R is definitely more raw power and nimble in comparison in my opinion. Love the noise as well! Enjoy! By the way, I haven't seen too many without the panoramic roof or the carbon roof on a white F-Type. I looked for one with the panoramic roof as it felt more open, the carbon roof didn't do too much for me except for the looks. I like the darker roof with the flow. Here's mine, though it's a 2016 R.

I like your 16 FTR with dark roof and dark CF rims. Nice combination with the white. I almost bought a grey FTR with the same look. But summers here in the eastern Sierra are hot and long, and I think the white metal roof makes a big difference with the heat. Interesting that you seemed to have de-badged the rear? Also interested to hear if you went with an extended warranty? I had one on the old XKR and used it once to replace a water pump (saved $1200) but never needed it again, so in the long run I lost. Trying to decide if it’s worth it for the F-type. Also, did you stick with the OEM summer tires or switch to all-season?

Nice to compare notes with other owners, thanks for the welcome.
