SPARK PLUGS AT 4,150 miles!
Went for my first annual service appointment Monday. I had called for the appointment Friday, was surprised I got such a quick one. Told me would need to leave the car, and give me a loner! Wasn't happy about that thought! Went to the appointment. Facility is brand new gorgeous! Service writer tells me they would be changing my spark plugs, as part of this service. Uh no thanks, oil change only please, while I wait! Got my oil changed, while I had coffee and a fresh muffin, in the lounge area, watching the cars being serviced through the huge glass doors of the service repair area! Why would they want to change plugs on a perfectly running 4,150 mi SVR? Nice people, and great facility though! Hope they can maintain that huge overhead, with cars to service and sell! Only had a few used in the showroom! Tough times!

You mentioned it was your first scheduled service, but your signature says you have a MY18? Is there something missing/wrong?
Other than a slight possibility of plugs getting harder to remove over time, I certainly agree that a car showing no issues shouldn't need new plugs at 4k miles. But, you might want to reconsider the offer. If it's a MY18, you're presumably still under the 5-year warranty/maintenance period, but about to expire. If so, the dealer might have been trying to include the work because your coverage is about to end. It's a bit odd, though, because the schedule for replacing plugs on a 8-cyl is 6 years or 96k miles, so you'd be early even based on time. The original schedule for the V6-S was only 3 years, so MAYBE that's what they had in mind. Anyway, you eventually WILL need to replace the plugs, and they're a bit of a bitch to do. If this is your only chance to get the work done for free, it could save you around $300 at the dealer.
