special order change

special order change?
Hello, how hard is it to change a special order after it has already been placed? My f-type isn't scheduled for delivery for another 10 weeks so I'm guessing it's going to be a few weeks before they even start to build it.
Technically, the dealer could say "too bad, so sad." That would be the worst case scenario. I was wondering if you had any experience with this and if so then what is typically the cutoff time to make changes to your order? For example, is it generally fairly easy to change your order up to 6 weeks before delivery is due?

Not sure what you mean by "build confirmation"? The dealer told me that Jaguar doesn't have "online tracking." The dealer didn't provide a cutoff date to make changes. He probably didn't want the potential hassle. However, based on what you're saying, it sounds like Jaguar does provide that option.
Can I call Jaguar directly to find out my "build confirmation" and cutoff date to make changes? Or will I need to go through the dealer to get that info?

Build Confirmation is an online document that the dealer receives after placing the order.
My dealer sent it to me and it has all the dates on when the car's production is supposed to begin and when is the last date to change the order.
We can't track the order status but I think the dealers can.
Talk to your dealer and he should be able to provide you with more info.

If you want to make a spec change, don't waste any time in getting straight back on to your dealer. The sooner you do it, the more chance of being able to make a change.

The manager told me that I missed the cutoff date by 1 day. I told him that I didn't want the car without a moonroof and that 1 option would be that I would forfeit my deposit and order another car. He told me to give him until Monday to see what he could do. I'll let you know what happens.

I tried to add the carbon ceramic brake package to mine past the change date and they couldn't accomodate. Seems that their just-in-time inventory system is lean indeed.
After driving mine around for a week with the panoramic roof, I encourage you to push hard for the option, it gives the interior a completely feel. Good luck!

@Norri - I didn't tell the manager that I would order elsewhere. I want to give them a chance to accommodate me first. But I do have a great backup dealer that I will use if it comes to that.
@ftypegtr - I've had sunroofs and convertibles in the past which made no difference to me so I had no qualms about ordering my ftype without a moonroof. However, after sitting in an ftype coupe I thought it felt a tad claustrophobic. And it was the first time I experienced a *panoramic* moonroof which was pretty amazing. And I think it will be a huge benefit to let in some extra light on overcast Seattle days.
I've described the panoramic moonroof to others as a "must have" for the f-type coupe. Worst case scenario is that I refuse the car and forfeit my $5k deposit. I don't have a problem with that. I can just chalk it up as one of those $5k mistakes in life and move on. The panoramic moonroof (and black pack) will totally be worth it.

There is a point where an order is no longer amendable. If you are beyond that point the Market Managers hands are tied.

A loan application has nothing to do with an order. If they built this car for you, you may own it or possibly face the loss of your deposit. Lets hope it is still amendable.
