Default Springs/Spacers/Tires…

Hi all, 2016 FType S convertible.. want to order the H&R lowering springs. Running Michelin Pilot Sport AS…20’s… 255 front/295 rear…not sure what spacers I need?…15 or 17mm?? Running these rims…need your thoughts on spacers…Will shaving the bolts be required?

With the H&R springs if you go more than 15 mm you will have rubbing issues so 15 mm is best but with those rims 15 mm will need cutting/grinding of the studs.

A lot of info out there, search Google instead of searching the forum directly, i have had great success finding 99% of what i needed this way: search object + Jaguar f type forum

I’m on h&r with 28 offset 11 inch rear rims(effectively the same as 15mm spacer as far as outer clearance is concerned), and it’s about 5-7mm from rubbing the fender lip. I’m also using 285 tires on it, 295 will cut it REAL close, and 305 will definitely rub.

Keep in mind different tire has different actual size even if they all say 295.

Beautiful color. As a reference point for you to consider, I tried both .5" and 1" drops on my R coupe (via KW Height Adjustable Spring kit) and found the latter yielded a significantly harsher, less compliant ride, and hitting the bump stops (despite the shorter bump stops KW supplied) a couple of times. Cornering/ handling did not improve, just alot harsher. If you have the active dampers, they are designed to stiffen as the shocks travel and with that much lower height - HRs drop 1.25"? - the shocks start off that much stiffer.

I've also run 12mm spacers all around on 255/295 MP4S and the car immediately became very darty/ squirrelly under hard braking from high speeds. The car sees road courses so I do test modifications before hitting the track. For pure aesthetics, the widened stance does look great.

We have VAP springs in stock, which won't cause rubbing issues, along with 15mm spacers also in stock.

I’m looking for a deep drop… I’m not sure of the difference between your springs and H&R springs with respect to expected drop distances and how that will look on my car car? Are you thinking I will have rubbing issues for sure??

18mm do not. ANY 15mm adapter spacer is going to require grinding the tapered tip of the stud off.

H&R springs are 3/8" (approx 9.5 mm) more drop than VAP springs, 1.25" vs .875" (one and a quarter inches vs seven eighths of an inch).
I have VAP springs plus 15 mm spacers front and 20 mm spacers rear on the stock 20" wheels and tyres and zero rubbing.
I also have the Blade wheels which to the best of my knowledge and after all these years are still the only OEM wheels that do not require trimming of the studs to allow 15 mm spacers to fit.
