Default A Squirrel Got me!

That's right a squirrel damaged the F type!

Started the car on morning of 12/23 for a run. Charge warning light immediately illuminated. Drove around block and turned engine off and then on again. Warning went away.

Went on my way and in 3 blocks heard a screeching sound and weird smell, no warming lights though. Drove home slowly, just 3 blocks, got a ticket for running a red light and got the car home with cops following lights and sirens at 20 MPH.

Put car in carport and cops performed their duty assuring I was not stealing the car.

Had car towed to dealer where they found squirrel in lower part of engine bay, in several pieces. Some wiring and a water hose chewed up.

Tow truck damaged the front lower lip and the shiny trim piece.

Car not repaired yet. Cost is $1400.

Happy New Year to all.

Sorry to hear about your misadventures, but why did you get a ticket?

If water hose was chewed up, did you lose all coolant?

The revenue parasites will always show up when not wanted, when you are at your weakest. Poor squirrel. Did you perform a funeral for it?

Sorry this happened to you. Critters and cats will look for a warm place. I spray everywhere with mint oil in hopes to keep rodents away, if they get to the wiring you have a major headache on your hands.

We don't get squirrel goats here, but I just repaired wiring on my mother's car on Sunday from some sort of rodential damage. One wire from the alternator was cut. Just enough to stop the charging system from charging. I relocated an electronic trap after that and caught a rat big enough to saddle up and ride around. It was probably not the perp though. I suspect that was a field mouse.

I put dryer sheets under the hoods of the cars here and change them once a month. It's probably not enough.

Sorry to hear that. Could happen to any car, especially during winter times. Insurance may cover it.

Avoid parking near an open field.
Use anti-rat tape or spray.
set up mouse traps in the garage.
