Start / stop stopped!

I fitted a new Varta AGM battery to my five year old F-Type R Coupe, all fine reset rear tailgate, widows and clock.
The only thing that no longer works is the dreaded Start / Stop function, I am very please as personally as I loath it!
I have been told that should I want to reactivate the Start / Stop, I would have to get a Jaguar service dealer to reset the BMS. apparently they have to sync the battery to the eco system
It sounds ridiculous!
Has anyone had personal experience of this situation, does it only occur with a new battery, maybe it can remember the original fitment and functions "correctly" without pairing provided there is no battery swap. Other than that is there a downside to not syncing? One Forum member suggested that after a period of time it might reset itself.

100% start stop is the #1 contributed to premature engine wear coupled with the extra thin oil to squeeze every mpg out of a performance car

My start stop has activated a total of 2 times since I've owned the car. Honestly, I don't know what's going on, but I don't mind it either way - not like I bought this vehicle for the mpg.
I'd say cold starts definitely would be many times more wear-inducing than start-stop, to the point where start-stop probably is negligible wear.

I took the car out last week and didn't notice it, but my ECO is off now too... no battery change or anything (although the second battery, if I have one which I guess I will check, might be dead... if it is there at all>)
I don't miss it and I prefer it off; I was thinking of the disco procedure herein but now, I don't need it!

I've done some more investigation and my start stop only activates when the battery has been fully charged as marked by my battery charger. This is why I've only seen my start stop activate thrice, each time immediately after a charge. I'm guessing some voltage level is needed, and under normal operation my car doesn't reach that. No idea why, as I have no issues unless I let my car sit for weeks at a time.

If you have a 2nd battery the best thing you can do by far is rip it right out of the car, that completely disables the useless SS system and has zero effect on anything else.
