It echoes everywhere around, and I am sure it's a true delight for people. The other early riser that was walking his dog seemed genuinely scared, but not angry. LOL He held his dog and I said "so sorry". He actually laughed, like yes it sucks but appreciated my deferential sheepishness.

I guess I just "own" it, and try to do my best. It is funny tho.... surely the older people would be most grumpy, but since they can't hear.....

I tried the reported stealth technique and I think the startup sounded exactly the same but the tach showed the actual RPM as opposed to the theater of going to 9000.

I have been facing this recently with my neighbors although they haven't been jerks about it. Bottom line - no 5am starts for me.

8am-10pm in most places means there is nothing legally/complaint wise they could do anyway. The neighbor directly across from me has to be running an AirBNB room of course - LOL!

The other day I was playing with my new gas chainsaw in my driveway, pretty much just playing a tune with it at 4pm and she came running over begging me to turn it off. Funny thing was - I wasn't doing anything with it. Just 'playing' it.

I wish these had remote start because then I could be upstairs, start it with the garage door closed, then slowly open the door LOL.

I LOVE how loud this car is - the drama - so not really complaining just don't want to be the over the top neighborhood blowhard I guess.

16 has remote start via Incontrol App, have they made it retroactively available on the 2014-15?

No. Won't happen either. Probably that only thing I like better about 16+MY.

Just fire a few rounds in the air from your EDC (Everyday Carry Weapon) before starting your F Type. No one will notice the Jag start up. In Texas, the solutions are more common sense.

Is it weird that I thought this was a thread about finding a job with good round A stock options?

My neighbor has a piped g35. It's loud as hell and doesn't sound as good as the jag. I just figure I'm doing everyone a favor by letting them listen to something better.

"Hey Bob.. you hear that ratty Japanese v6 the other morning?"
"Uh.. ya, I guess"
"Right.. that thing is raspy".
"Uh.. ya.."
"Good thing the jag is here then, eh?"
"Oh ya, thanks a bunch for that Mike"

Has worked for me so far.

This has bothered me since I got the car. Gave a friend a ride last night and gave him the spiel - not my doing! He said that he rents a lotta cars for work and that a lot of them do that on start up now...
FWIW, no change when I followed that procedure. I think I saw another thread that said putitindriverightaway? I don't think I want to do that either...

I do believe the best that can be done is fire it up and after 3-4 seconds open the garage door from inside the car. Muffle the initial bark a bit.

Unfortunately I have a lot of stuff in my garage that can't smell like exhaust, so a longer pause wouldn't work. That very initial start up is what gets all the attention so maybe that will be the plan.

The only thing that works for me, 2016 MY, is to start the car and put it in drive immediately. You don't have to actually drive anywhere. Throw it into drive then back to park and the startup is completely sane and civilized.

That's the method, but you can keep it in drive if you want. Start and straight into a driving gear with the foot still on the brake so you can immediately reapply the parking brake and you can wait for the engine to warm up a little before actually moving. With practise you can get it down to a short sharp bark that is over before anyone can pinpoint where it came from.

A long shot, but I've never tried pressing the start button with my other hand whilst holding the trigger and the drive selector in drive at the same time (if it will let you move the stick?) I'll have to try that next time I'm in the car to see if it works.

I don't think that my cat is any louder than the SS 396 Chevelle that is a couple doors up. I've never had a complaint, even from my wife. She did complain about her CTS-V that actually rattled stuff off the living room wall - with stock exhaust.

For those of us with manuals, this works:
1. Depress clutch
2. Shift to any gear or reverse
3. Press start
4. On ignition, immediately lift clutch to the friction point, forcing the revs down (the parking brake remains engaged)

....which is most of them! I swear I was the only HD owner that still had stock pipes....and it was still louder than the F type. I'm not worried about my car with the neighbors as there are several Harleys on the street...though I don't often take the car to work so it doesn't usually get fired up that early anyhow.

Wow - got to try the put it in gear trick, it works.

Not that I'd do that all the time, but it sure is great to know. It appears that you don't have to leave it in gear either just put it in reverse or drive then back to park and it is much more mellow. Thanks a lot.
