On the right side of my tailgate, on the upper edge, there's a black rectangular sticker. It looks a bit like a piece of black gaffa tape and It looks like it's there to cover the edge between two trim pieces, maybe to stop water from getting in there. I only have this sticker on the right side, but nothing on the corresponding part of the left side.
I just checked mine and it has the same piece of tape but on BOTH sides.
Black on top, yellowish white underneath, just hanging loose and no hint of stickiness on the underside.
No idea what it is for!
Thanks for checking Kim. Ok, looks like an afterthought solution to cover the gap between the two pieces underneath. Will replace mine with something better and add one on the other side too.
Pulled off the remaining one and used it as a template to cut out two pieces of gaffa tape. A piece of silvery gaffa tape on each side now, so all in order again. Still no idea what it's actually for though.
