STO N SHO hidden license plate bracket...
#241
I was in heavy traffic this morning and in the process of changing lanes when I encountered a large road alligator (truck tire tread). With no room to avoid, I could only square up head on and hope for the least (damage). A similar tread took out the front bumper skin on my wife's MINI a couple years ago. Got to the office and inspected the damage. Front plate gone, plate frame in pieces and retaining pin on Sto N Sho sheared. No damage to the Jag. Ok...so now we know the Sto N Sho protects the car from both aggressive bumper blocks or curbs AND road alligators.

The front plate/frame combo cost me a total of $70 and is already on its way to me. I consider myself real fortunate. That occurred at the very beginning of my 12 day journey around the eastern 2/3rds of the country. I hope that's the extent of the mishaps. Stopped over in Springfield, OH this evening.

That was a pile of rubber at least 8 inches high so I do not think so. Either way, the Sto n Sho saved the day.

So here's an update: the Sto N' Sho got just a little bent (primarily the 2 insertion rods) but I was able to true everything up with a square, mallet and heavy duty vise. The retaining pin, however, was broken. Big Mike mailed me a new retaining pin mechanism at no charge which which actually has a larger pin diameter that more closely matches the slots in the one rod (a nice upgrade). Mikes outstanding customer service never quits.

If you don't like it, turn it off in settings. It has saved me many times.
I leave on-road hazards, cop alert, etc on and turn off the hazard on the shoulder warnings and what not. They don't ALL need to be set to on.

I recently got a no front plate fix it ticket. I already had bought my STO N SHO but hadn't installed it. Since I didn't have the tools to do it at home, I stopped by the local San Jose Jaguar dealership and asked them for help installing it. They refused to do so because of "liability" issues with installing the aftermarket bracket. They didn't want to remove the center Torx screw. This dealership is famous for their horrible service from many past visits. They didn't even let me borrow their Torx 30 so I can do it myself. Customer satisfaction: negative.
