As you can see, my R-7 fits perfectly on the right the side of the mirror. The R-7 display kind of slants torwards the right so I see it perfectly. The suction mount is a stock mount which I have never had an issue with even in El Paso summers which do tend to get a tad hot.
I debated about getting the R-8 when they first came out but I got a deal on the R-7 and all tests have indicated that the R-8 is just marginally better and has an additional feature or two. Nothing to worry about for me. In any case, I have used the R-7 for many years now. It has paid for itself many times over and after configuring it for my area it is silent. Sometimes too silent. But when she flares up you know it's a hit.
The very best place on the web for radar is: https://www.vortexradar.com/. This site has a wealth of information on all things radar, with many tests, videos and programming instructions. You will also be directed to where the radar deals are, where the sales are and I am not exaggerating when I say that this is a wonderful site. The host is simply marvelous.
I have my V1 mounted on the left side of the mirror in the indicated location. I don't have the solar attenuating glass, but the mounting location works just fine otherwise. It's tucked nicely out of the way. As hot as it gets here I wish I did have the glass.
My '23 also has the heated windshield, however despite all the on-line info from various sources, I am still unable to confirm the solar attenuating /RFID feature.
Might still be able to use a radar detector, but not sure if it could end up like a paperweight if I'm forced to use the cutouts which may be too small.
One unexpected feature of CarPlay is the "Speed Check Ahead" notification. If I'm going over the speed limit, it suggests slowing down to avoid a ticket.
