Sudden power loss. 2.0
F 'type 2.0
i was driving back from a grocery run this morning. Taking the long way home.
i slowed for guys working on the road. Then put the pedal all the way down in dynamic S. Car accelerated poorly. Hit ,6,000 rpm and badly stumbled.
Car would accelerate like it had 40% hp. Limp mode? Drove that way about 4 miles home. Planned to let it sit a bit and then call the dealer.
let the car set several hours. Went for a ride. Everything is perfect again.
Any clues? Car has 6,500 miles, 2018 2.0.

Yep, it went into "restricted performance" (limp) mode but who knows why.
There should be at least one error code stored, get yourself a decent code reader (like an iCarsoft LR 2.0) and check for codes (then post them up here), then clear the codes, go for a run and check again to see if any codes came back up (unlikely).
A good code reader is a must-have on these cars and can (and usually will) save you many times it's cost in diagnosing problems, especially the simple things that a dealership will charge you squillions to diagnose.

Today everything is peachy!
amazed how well the car behaves in wet weather. Our other vehicle is a diesel hd truck. Now that is a terror in wet weather.
I will need a scanner to see anything.
having come from a 63 MGB I really am not fond of all the new technology. KISS is my motto. Bought the simplest f type.

I haven't had any issues using the scanner, and as Oz said, he hasn't either. I only asked because there are other posts where plugging into the OBD II causes battery drain. Apparently this is not an issue with iCarsoft LR 2.0. Or at least in our two experiences.
