Default Switchable Active Exhaust

Dear all,

I recently got a base V8S with few options as the dealer had that car in stock. I really wanted the switchable active exhaust as I felt it sounds better than hitting dynamic mode which is supposed to activate active exhaust. Is there any aftermarket way to add switchable active exhaust? Or do they sound the same (dynamic mode on vs switchable active exhaust) based on Jaguars website?

Thanks,

I believe it's the same thing. But dynamic mode also changes throttle response and shift points, which will sound different vs. non-dynamic mode active exhaust (I think).

I don't have the switchable active exhaust, but I leave dynamic mode on most of the time.

The switchable exhaust puts baffles in the exhaust that open/shut when the button is depressed. The louder exhaust notes you hear when in D/S is strictly from the engine revving at higher shift points, not because the baffles were opened.

If the tech was there and made active simply by shifting into a different drive mode, it would be a relative cost free addition by placing the button on the center console. I think it was $1200 bucks to add the switchable exhaust.

The option to add switchable exhaust is $220 but before the built. Not sure if you can add after buying the car.

I missed the V8 part. It's $1500 on the V6.

I have the V6 and I just took out my plastic sealed window sticker.

Active Exhaust is $1,500 on the sticker as stated for my car!

The owners manual lists fuse F43 as Active Exhaust. It is possible that pulling the fuse will leave the bypass valves locked open - similar as pulling fuse 22 on an Aston V8 Vantage.

Have you tried that?

If that worked, you could hardwire the fuse port open and put an appropriate breaker switch somewhere convenient.

No I haven't tried it, I just referenced it in the owners manual.

As a $250 option I can't imagine it is more than a switch that is added to the cabin. Jaguar designing two separate exhausts, one for cars with switchable exhausts and one without wouldn't make economic sense.

So, just to clarify - I simply open passenger side foot-well fuse box and take out Fuse F43? I have not seen my car (parked in a garage) in 15 days as NYC had crazy amounts of snow but hopefully I can take it for a spin next week during the heat wave of 40 degrees+.

Thanks,

Thanks,

To see if it works that is all you would need to do - pull fuse F43.

I am in CT and am sharing your pain with the snow. Hopefully that's the last of it now.

I checked with the service advisor to remove the fuse and they warned me that they have no bulletin or info on it and modifying/removing fuse could void the warranty .

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Wouldn't is be better to simply have a custom shop do a rear muffler delete? They can keep the stock tips and keep the resonator in place to keep drone down. I will be doing this to my base V6 in late March.

That's an interesting thing to do. My V6 will be ready in 2 months from now can't wait..
I didn't get the switchable exhaust option. but if u guys have any good ideas to make this thing happen please share so i can do it as well.

Also i live in Canada, Our choice of options are limited. They didn't let me have Carbon Ceramic breaks on my V6- i only wanted it because its red.

My exterior colour is Polar white and the interior is Red, this is why i wanted the breaks to be red but they didn't let me.

Also i wasn't able to add the Orange paddle shifters and start button- Do u guys have any ideas if i can buy the orange ones and have a shop to replace the black ones with the orange ones? are they even replaceable?
share some ideas guys thanks

That's too funny.

The XKR and XFR guys have been pulling the fuse on the active exhaust since years.

I tested a new XFR a couple of years ago and the sales guy told me they pulled the fuse themselves because "it sounds better"

You can always put the fuse back in afterwards

Has anyone confirmed whether pulling the fuse works?
