Take off your engine cover!

It appears your readings were taken inside and outside. That make any difference in the results here?

Theres 3(?) nipples that point upwards from the heat exchanger that fit into rubber grommets under the engine cover.

I've the base 6, and this was my only concern. Can someone TL;DR the apparent / assumed pros and cons of this?

Take the bonnet off too, it is just adding excess weight.
I believe from the previous pages that no one has yet noted any damage to the paint. It was also offered that the P7 does not come with an engine cover. (Although it possibly has a different underbonnet insulation - maybe Zach or another member with a P7 could compare the two?)

Read this whole thread. I believe that we have adequately discounted that concern.

Well since mine is white I should see staining, pigment loss and trouble sooner than most. I have had my cover off for a month and about 2k worth of spirited miles. While I've washed the outside of the car I haven't touched the engine (I know bad me!). In this case I'm glad I haven't as a couple of things are apparent.
1. Very little dirt has accumulated. Almost nothing.
2. Underside of the bonnet, while a tad dusty looks same as always
3. Outside of bonnet showing no wear.
I'll continue to monitor over time but I think we can lay to rest the potential for problems for now. Some pictures below:
The shadow on the right is an artefact of my garage lighting.
Yes even the flowers are fine! Don't ask......

Removal procedure ....
Do you simply pull upward until it comes off?
How much force is required.
Thank you

Simply pull it off, straight up, with a light tug in three places.
You can see the three mounting "prongs" in Mbourne's pics, the black round things poking up from the S/C cooler, two at the rear and one at the front. They slot into removable plugs/sockets on the underside of the cover, you can even see one of these plugs still attached to the prong in the third pic. One hint - if/when you go to put the cover back on, make sure you have the plugs in the cover and not on the prongs, much easier that way.
Also, once you have removed the cover you can remove the prongs if you want, they simply screw out with a 10 mm spanner.
