Take off your engine cover!

Simply pull it off, straight up, with a light tug in three places.
You can see the three mounting "prongs" in Mbourne's pics, the black round things poking up from the S/C cooler, two at the rear and one at the front. They slot into removable plugs/sockets on the underside of the cover, you can even see one of these plugs still attached to the prong in the third pic. One hint - if/when you go to put the cover back on, make sure you have the plugs in the cover and not on the prongs, much easier that way.
Also, once you have removed the cover you can remove the prongs if you want, they simply screw out with a 10 mm spanner.

I'm still sure it's four. Not sure where the three keeps coming back, but maybe it's a model thing. This is NOT the Holy Hand Grenade where, we all know, three shall be the number of thy counting, and the number thou shalt count shall be three.

So after following this thread, I just removed my engine cover and noticed that it has a foam insulation layer on the underside. This, I believe, is new to the MY16. Previous MYs had no insulation. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) So I'm wondering: Is this thermal or acoustic (unlikely) insulation? Why was it added? Was it added for a reason that would indicate that we should keep the cover on?

Thus, not a 2016 model year addition. Could be a based on engine size.

Oh, good...now we can spend another 77 posts discussing the social science behind spending 77 posts fully contemplating a matter for which an empirically established conclusion was submitted in the 1st post.
