Tesla Roadster
Surprising how similar the Tesla Roadster body style is to the F-Type R.

A lot of similar lines to me. Must be my attention to detail.

Looks more like a Lotus Evora than an F-type. All nice looking cars in their own right. The Evora has ugly headlights though; like a kit car.
Was chuckling about the battery also. I'm sure if you floored it all the way to top speed (if special street tires are made for 250mph) and then let off the accelerator you better hope there would be a charging station at the next stop.
Surely IF this could really attain a speed of 250mph, you could literally watch the drain needle drifting downward toward empty. The amount of energy needed at full power would kill this in minutes. For example, at full throttle a Dodge Hellcat consumes 1.5 gallons of gas in under one minute.
Tesla can't even produce promised numbers of their model 3 (being sued for this as many gave sizeable non-refundable deposits). Plus the goofy semi-truck that would never be economically viable for any trucking company. The only user will be Tesla itself, if it ever really exists in the real world.
My guess is this roadster, if ever released as stated with these numbers, is many years away - 2020 my ***. If Musk spends less time chasing gold digger has beens and focuses 100% on his company, maybe 2030.

I think what he's saying is that every time a new car comes out, whatever forum you happen to be perusing, there's always "that guy" who thinks it looks like the car of that particular forum, no matter how far fetched it is. Usually a bunch of people pile on and wonder who is or isn't blind, and it deteriorates from there.
To be fair though, it really looks nothing at all like an f-type. It has much more resemblance and many more design cues which are similar to the NSX and really any number of other cars that could come to mind, but not at all like an f-type in my opinion. That is what I think brought on his comment, and now mine too. The details and overall shape of the vehicle would seem to support this viewpoint. No offense, but it almost seems like a "bait" thread to be honest.

Recently memory includes the LC500, Toyota Supra and Aston Martin DB11 threads which were all started by someone saying "these look exactly like an f type!". However, compared to your comments on the Tesla Roadster those looked like exact replicas; so its certainly not your attention to detail.

I think it has a lot to do with understanding the difference between, "similar" versus "exact."

He's using hyperbole in a humorous way.
I think the Nissan Juke and Cube are ripping off the styling of the F-Type. I mean I love my Jag, but I could get a dozen of these for the same price. Don't even get me started on this Aztek. 4 tires? Doors?!?
Only real problem is that they are taller than the F-type. Just look at these photos though.
