Default Test Drive Today

2014 V8S CPO. A couple of days ago the dealer had 2, a red one and a blue one. I was interested in the Blue one which of course is the one that was sold. So I drove the Arrest Me (Salsa) Red one. I thought that I would hate the color, but I didn't.

While the salesman was copying my license and getting a tag, I tried the Meridian Stereo. Sounded great. I didn't mess with it a lot, but at fairly substantial levels I didn't detect any rattling.

First stop was fuel. No problem there either.

I didn't get a chance to corner hard because the roads were a bit damp. Tried it with and without the training wheels. Without, all I can say is Holy S***.

Their appraisal of my SLK 55 was fair - $1000 more than Carmax and in line with KBB, etc. The boss gave me permission to buy it, so now it's just negotiating a price that the dealer and I can both live with. When they told me how much cash I needed in addition to my trade, I told them that they would have to sharpen their pencil which is always the first step in the negotiation. Ideally, I'd like them to find $6000. I'm pretty certain that they have that much margin. It's really a question of if they want to get rid of it. They've had it for a year. End of month, end of quarter, end of year. They should be hungry.

What do you guys and gals think?

Sounds like all is in order with the car, but without telling us what they're asking for it and how many miles are on it, it's impossible to answer your last question.

Your "Holy S" comment is right on. I have a 2014 V8s cpo as well. It's a rocket ship that will both thrill and scare the crap out of you. As for the deal would agree that mileage number and what they are asking is needed info to advise. Depending on the mileage I suspect your range is going to be anywhere from $60k-$73k retail. The price vs milage tipping point seems to be 20k miles or less. Over 20k on line ads I've seen show 55-65. Under that up to $74k with one way over priced in the 80s with 45 miles on it. Let us know.

The car is at Hunt Valley (MD) Jag. They're asking $69,900. It has about 9k on the clock. Please look at the Carfax on it and see if you can help me understand its heritage. The CF is free on the site.

Thanks for your expert opinions.

You're in luck. That is right up Mbourne's alley since that's where he bought his CPO '14 V8S. I'll defer to him, but that's a decent deal. I don't think the "pencil can be sharpened" for 6K off that.

I know the car quite well. My wife also test drove that one. It's nice no doubt. Back in September they had it at 76k and then it dropped to 72. The fact that they are now at 69 means they are starting to get a little desperate. They are already taking a bath on it to some degree. They paid too much when they first got it. You are probably close to the lowest they will want to go. You can maybe get another grand off but they likely won't go down much more. They have had an SKRS there for close to 2 years and still have not sold it.

This particular car I only know a little about but these guys are pretty straight up. If your dealing with Paul M he will give you the straight scoop. The GM is not the easiest to negotiate with but if you can get to Mr Frankel you might get a little more movement. At 9k on the odometer you might get them to 65-66 max which is not too bad. I'd take in the Autotrader listings of some similar vehicles. Anything under 68 is a good deal from my perspective. I got mine in the summer with 6k on it for 72 on an original sticker of 109. Your definitely in the right ballpark

Thanks for the help and the offer. I have the ultimate negotiating tactic. I don't need the car so if they can't get to where I want to be I can just leave.

Made a deal this afternoon. Didn't get the $6,000 more off, but then again I didn't really expect to. Got an addl. $2,500 off, so sale price is about $67,400. Will pick it up tomorrow.

Frankel in Owings Mills.

I live in northern Frederick county and work in MoCo, so I might have work done in Bethesda. Owings Mills is just over an hour which maybe isn't so bad when riding a cat!

Looks like you are equidistant to Owings Mills, Bethesda and Clarksville.

Congrats. Nicely done on the final price. I kept finding (ok well I still do) excuses to drive it to "pick up stuff" from the dealer or the store or the office or the......insert your excuse of choice here......

I'm not ready to tuck it away for the winter just yet so stay away snow a little longer. See you around the region! Hunt Valley Town Centre has a cars and coffee session every saturday from 8-10. I'm the only Ftype there so feel free to come by sometime.
