Default Test drove amg gts...

This wknd went to a dealer and test drove one. Have a ftype R 2016..to sum up: I was not impressed. Amg looks good but throttle response so delayed (felt laggy) even in race mode, exhaust was typical of V8..nothing special..interior Prob better than ftype..overall fun factor clearly goes to jag..not to mention benz cldnt put piwer to ground anywhwre near the jag...lastly which I thought was intersting is that the dealer said jag drops value so hard that mine w 10k miles is worth 72k and almost new ones on manheim are going for low 80's..not sure if that's true but found it interesting so to sum up...keep the jag! Lol

Did a GTs test drive also about 2 weeks ago.I came away with the same feelings. Im still torn about picking up the Jag. After owning two Audi R8s it's more difficult finding a replacement.
As to dealer comments about depreciation, that MB will tank just like any other high end car. I've owned several and they no different. The GT is still rare but once few more are out the prices will adjust.

For the salesman to imply that the Mercedes value isn't going to drop like a rock is blowing smoke.

Totally agree..and I have a manual tranny LP 550 and it's a hard car to replace hence I didnt..however jag has tremendous fun factor with power, sound, and instant response and traction...

One just has to look at the lease rates on AMGs to understand how they fare in the secondary market (hint: not well).

That is correct...he quoted me 95k (only this low if paid upfront) for a 3 year lease with30k miles and a residual of 85k on a 142k msrp...that's stupid high..lol

Do you mean he wanted the entire lease paid upfront? That residual is pretty consistent with high-end cars. If 95k is the reduced cap cost, that is a good deal unless, as you state, you have to pay it all upfront.

Interesting experience with the AMG... A friend of mine has an AMG gullwing' and we took it out for a very lively run on the outskirts of Chicago.. keeping the rear end from breaking loose was a real chore.. I prefer my F - R.

Oh the Benz salesman are really into hyperbole. I was sitting in an S550 hybrid and was told the powertrain was "exactly like a Tesla."

As for the AMG GT, it's a fine car and from certain angles certainly has a gravitas the F-type generally doesn't. But for $40K more and no vert option I'm passing.

Let me get this straight......
You pay $95k, drive it for 30k miles, and turn the keys back over?

What was it that P.T. Barnum said?

Well, unless I read that wrong you pay $10k for three years of motoring. The only snag is the deposit...

No that's wrong..you pay 95k upfront which covers the entire lease payments for three years..then you buy the car at end of three years for 85k or just give the car back

The way I read it is you're paying $2638/month to lease the car, but you're paying all 36 lease payments upfront.
